You can’t be too upset if a kid chooses one of the 4 above schools over your school. It’s like picking the MLB over AAA. Bama is obviously the king, but these other 3 schools are the only schools who have any real chance of knocking them off every once and a while.

The rest of us can battle it out in some meaningless bragging rights games but if you are interested in the championship level division you need to pick one of the above 4 to support. Guys like Jeremy Pruitt, Dan Mullen, Will Muschamp, John Morehead, Chad Morris, etc. aren’t competing with those 4 in the real world.

Some may disagree, but I think it’s now okay to pick from one of those 4 teams in addition to your own school. It’s not much different than having a favorite NBA team and a favorite NFL team.

Clemson is such a natural transition for VOLS everywhere, don’t even need to get new apparel

Obviously. Tennessee football has been irrelevant for 20 years.

A lot of East Tennessee ties to their roster as well. A shame they lost Cade Mays to another Big 4 team.

Vol fans need not apply. UGA Bandwagon application denied.

We'll take Vandy fans though. Others on a case by case basis.

Take UGA out, nowhere near the others.

Auburn has the same number of SEC Championships as them since 2000, and LSU has one more than them. Auburn also has a national championship and LSU has two.

LSU currently has an irl swamp donkey running the program. They are OUT of big 4 competition.

Auburn is under consideration but they no longer need football with Bruce showing them the light.

Recency bias, at least with UGA and Clemson. Not long ago, LSU, UF, and USC would have replaced either of those.

In terms of recruiting, we 100% belong there.

why does there need to be a designated big 4.

Every season is a clean slate.

Here in the SEC, we go by 6.

OP is spot on per usual.

Just glad that I got to witness VOLS climb the mountaintop once in my lifetime before this archaic, cavemanesue sport became obsolete.

All in for king basketball going forward.

So how did you explain it when Dak's MSU team was ranked high.

The #Big4 represents those who are not wasting their time and money on football season.

Alabama is a permanent Big 4 member under Saban. The other 3 rotate, but these are the clear cut 3 for now.

i don't think even the programs like Wake think they are losing time and money on it, given how much money they spend on new facilities etc.

Football is one way universities advertise.

I agree these are clearly the Top 4. But you do have Auburn who knocked off 2 of those 4 teams just this past year. They've played 7 games against Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson in the past 2 seasons.... won 2, lost two more by just 6 points... lost another by just 8 points.

Clearly they are capable of "knocking off" one of those four programs. They did it twice and almost did it 3 other times in a span of just 7 games.
