These guys are worse than Tennessee and Michigan fans. They haven't accomplished shite in the past 20 years and act like this is just one of the best jobs in the country. No 4 and 5 star recruits want to go and play in bum-frick Nebraska. It's truly laughable at this point at how big of a shite hole that place is right now, yet they still think they can get a quality coach to drive that dump truck of a football program.

I mean, they are targeting the coach at Kansas and Bill O'Brien. Not sure how that equates to thinking they can steal some big time coach.

Really Nebraska’s biggest problem is they need back in the Big 12 where they can recruit Texas again.

Second they need a guy that can recruit top talent and develop the diamonds in the rough. A guy that can go nationally. Tom Osbourne got Cali guys and Texas guys. Plus he got the best from the surrounding states. Even had a Fl guy or 2 I think. He could recruit everywhere like Saban and Kirby and Dabo do today.

What hurts Nebraska as much as anything though is the change in the game I think. They ran the option back in the glory days. Now days you need skill on the outside and a great Qb to get it to them to win. A state that is starved for talent can’t produce those players year in and out. They can’t be consistent.

Nebraska either needs to get back in the Big 12, or they need a Big Ten guy who has relationships with high schools in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, etc. I don't think the former will happen.

There is enough talent in that region, and Nebraska has enough resources, that there's no reason they can't regularly compete for the Big Ten title. NU has just been so dense about not doing this for whatever reason

I feel sorta sorry for them. Their fans have always been super nice and I was a fan when they were in the Big 8 and B12. They got kicked out of the AAU by their new conference mates which was pretty crappy and they will wither and die in a conference that just feeds 1.5 teams.

They need to be Iowa with a modern, run first offense (of which there are plenty of).

If you do that you win at least 8-9 games every single season in the B1G West and have certain years where you can win more. And you don't have to recruit at a Top 10-15 level to do it. Minnesota is a pretty good example. Wisconsin, though I think more modern on offense than that. The type of stuff Northwestern runs offensively.

Bowl knows what I'm talking about.

Here's how the population of Kansas breaks down as far as football fans.

North of I-70 = Nebraska Fans.
South of I-70 = Oklahoma Fans.
In Manhattan = K-State Fans.
In Lawrence = Kansas fans.

It's a terrible job. Basketball is basically the only thing Kansas has fans in.

Nebraska has an incredible legacy. Their fans are classy. But the world has changed around them. The center of gravity in college football has shifted to the southern states. The Kansas coach is the real deal and they may have a shot at him. College football was more fun when you had OU v Neb in the Big 8, duking it out on Thanksgiving.

I think they have some potential with the right hire. Their problem has been coaching but they have money just need to spend it.

Their recruiting isn’t awful and they have some talent. Here’s their last 5 classes:

2018: 23
2019: 18
2020: 20
2021: 25
2022: 32

Now lets look at last years games. If players give up no way they don’t get blown out a few times.

1. Lost 22-30 @ Illinois
2. Won 52-7 vs Fordham
3. Won 28-3 vs Buffalo
4. Lost 16-23 @ #3 OU
5. Lost 20-23 @ #20 Michigan St
6. Won 56-7 vs NW
7. Lost 29-32 vs #9 Michigan
8. Lost 23-30 @ Minnesota
9. Lost 23-28 vs Purdue
10. Lost 17-26 vs #6 Ohio St
11. Lost 28-35 @ #19 Wisconsin
12. Lost 21-28 vs #17 Iowa

If we look at all their close losses we can tell they have talent. Not one loss vs all those ranked teams was more than 9 points, means they were in every game.

With better coaching and a bump in recruiting (would not take a lot) they could turn this around. And if new staff can peel off some wins that helps recruiting.

Its easy to blanket weite them off and say they are worst team, but there is some meat on the bone for the right coach.

I 100% agree they messed up going B10. That ship sailed now yhey need to man the rails and make best of it with the right hire.

They are being punished for destroying the college football landscape as it should've been.

The Kansas coach has done a hell of a job with the Jayhawks. He would be a good choice for Nebraska
