Derrick Thomas was a snub for sure

In what year?

Because if it’s 1988 , no he wasn’t that was probably the most correct Heisman winner of all time

I doubt anyone would argue that. But he should have finished higher than 10th. At least higher than Tony Mandarich, Anthony Thomas or Tim Rosenbach.

Hard to believe there wasn't an Alabama player until 1993. Tells me all that winnng was a team effort.

I woulda given Kenny Stabler the Heisman, still the most badass football player of all time and a personal role model of mine.

Interesting from a related online article on Alabama an the heisman:

Alabama is the only school that has produced three different players who finished in the top three of the Heisman balloting in three consecutive years

Bama leads the SEC in different players finishing in the top 3 as the OP shows. And, only 4 teams in the nation have more... even with the late start cracking the top 3. Shows how good the Saban era has been in terms of talent and exposure. It's going to suck when its gone.

The 4 other schools ahead of Bama in having different players finish top 3 are 17 for ND, 13 for OU, 10 for USC, and 11 for tOSU.

While Peyton certainly got snubbed, Charles Woodson was significantly better than Troy Smith.

I’d also be willing to toss out the argument that it might have been Randy Moss that actually got snubbed that year and not Peyton.

Mcfadden should have won in 07
Tebow should have won in 08

Both got robbed. Tebow got snubbed in 08 by midwest voters leaving him off the ballot despite him getting the most first place votes...was absolute bullshite.

This is a solid take.

Dude put up receiving numbers that we’ve never really witnessed before, and haven’t really seen since. 26 TDs. 1800+ rec yds. 2300+ all-purpose yards by a WR

I think Peyton got snubbed but looking at their respective college and pro careers, Woodson definitely proved that he earned it as well

But after 4 2nd places finishes, most VOLS fans dont really GAF about the Heisman. Its all politics and we're over it.

I’m surprised that LSU has not had a guy finish in the top 3 since 1962, given the great players they’ve produced.

Where did Sterling Sharpe finish in 87 or whenever it was? I was out of the country much of the 80s but I thought Sterling finished Top 3?

I don’t think he finished Top 10 in ‘86 or ‘87.

1987
1986

I know there’s arguments that he was far more valuable than that though.

Damn .... those years are hazy to me.

Yeah, I mean if I remember correctly someone told me he had Heisman numbers. Who won it that year, Tim Brown at Notre Dame right? I think I remember being told that Sharpe had better numbers than Brown and against better competition but, you know what, I am going to use the Internet and finally take time to see for myself.

Herschel Walker should have won in 1980.
