yeah, but traditions can be started at anytime. maybe the rest of the schools should do it and claim they just started a tradition.

if it's not allowed, then it shouldn't be allowed for anyone. Something tells me if State was a bama or lsu they would have been axed a long time ago.

I'm sure Mullen voted for it, but why the hell did so many other coaches? If it's illegal it's illegal. Whether it's "Tradition" or not. It was tradition for the KKK to lynch people, but that's not legal is it?

Comparing ringing cowbells to racist murder? REALLY???

Speeding and smoking weed are illegal, yet people still do them. Some rules are meant to be bent a little.

And when caught they are fined or jailed in certain situations.

There are fines set in place if Mississippi State does not ring responsibly at times they are supposed to ring. Before kickoff, after scores, during timeouts, inbetween quarters, and on turnovers.

Exactly. What a terrible comparison.

Exactly. Obviously the comparison was a stretch, but if there is rule against something, then it shouldn't be done. I for one think they're annoying as hell, but if there was a rule allowing it I wouldn't care.

As we have learned in the SEC over the last year, what's considered "illegal" and what we will allow are pretty much polar opposites

This.

It's not illegal until you get caught (which normally happens at some point). When you're caught, you pay the piper.

I read that some of the coaches said that it's not really a distraction for the players........not that loud on the field. Please ban it for the fans having to watch that on TV. It's soccer all over.

None, our ringing etiquette was up to par for the SEC thus we weren't fined.

Personally I say let them ring the Cowbells. But any team in the SEC should also use artificial noisemakers when MSU is visiting.

Well then the system set up is a complete charade because I don't think they ever stopped in the Auburn game.
