No one said they didn't make an irrational move by firing him. I think that is evident now.

It's why UT is being cautious with Butch.

Firing Less was a beautiful thing to be sure.
Hiring O was about as ugly a thing that you could think of.

Firing Les at season's end - smart move.
Firing Les after 4 games into the season after losing to two Top 20 teams - real stupid for long term

Face it, unless TAF wants to tie up about 12- 15 million a year for the next 4 years or so we are stuck with Orgeron.

Unlike other LSU fans I don't hate Orgeron....someone offers you 3.5 million a year and the most you have ever made is 600,000.00 a year, with a 12 million guarantee on the back side over 4 years. You don't negotiate, you grab.

It should have never come to this.....as much as everyone hates Fking, he should have stepped in when Alleva was firing Miles after the Auburn game last year.

Les should have been fired in 2015 like originally planned. We would have found a better coach then O and not be in this situation to begin with.

That article argues the main reason LSU wasn't able to snag any of the big name coaches they wanted was b/c they flipped their shite and fired Les after losing to two good teams. Too many of the candidates saw how you treated Les and told Alleva to piss off.

Well that article is fricking stupid.

We had ample time and didn't conduct a big search. We went all in on Tom Herman, who used us to bargain with Texas, then Alleva panicked and gave it to Orgeron like a petulant child.

Miles could've retired and Alleva would've made the same fricking mistake.

That apparently has not been the case for quite some time. LSU hasn't had a QB worth a shite outside of Mett in years.

I thought O could succeed in that environment.

Well most people with a brain disagreed with you.

There are 200 head coaches that are more qualified for the job than Orgeron.

We just didn't hire one.

Firing Les after 4 games into the season after losing to two Top 20 teams
LSU went into last year ranked #5 AP, with one voter picking them #1.

Wisconsin was the equivalent of #31 in that same poll, and AU was right behind them at #32.

The Badgers jumped all the way to #10 after their win over LSU, who fell to #21.

By the time they limped into Jordan-Hare, they were back up to #18. Meanwhile AU was 1-2, with home losses to Clemson and TAMU, and received no votes at all in the Week 3 poll.

The article wrongly assumes that LSU should have lost because they played two good teams. But that simply wasn't the perception at the time the games were played.

Disagreed with me? That isn't my line of thinking. I remember his days at ole miss. That was the mockery of LSU fanbase's mentality about the hire vs his days at ole miss. I know where you stood with the hire because you were a student at ole miss then.

But you saying that things won't get that bad bc of this or that is the reason you're in this mess now. I guess you could look at Texas after firing Mack Brown. It's been 5 years, is Texas back to that level yet?

No one forced you to fire him 4 games into a season, do average with O and then make him permanent.

This board's complete 180 on what they now think of Les after he was fired is as hilarious as it is stupid.

But Ed Oregeron proved he was a great coach that year after he beat the mighty Missouri Tigers.

Lsu's premature firing of Les Miles will cost the Tigers in the long run

No Lsu's idiotic athletic director who whiffed on hi 2 choices for head coach and then settled for Orgeron without continuing the search WILL COST LSU IN THE LONG RUN!

Also agreeing to a huge buyout for a coach that nobody wanted will cost Lsu.
Miles was fired for being stubborn and not evolving the offense. It had zero to do with losing to Wisconsin or Auburn. He should have been fired the season prior , but again that same idiotic AD along with our idiotic president caved to the media/fan pressure to keep him.
Miles had to go!

I really dont, we got what our ignorant asses deserve.

If Saban has done anything, he should have cemented in the type of coach we would be looking for....we chose the exact god damn opposite. And the fan base by and large went along with it. It was unbelievable. I went down south when it was going down, it boggled my mind that people down there actually were BEGGING for O to get the job. I was speechless.

Top 5 Auburn team? Come on, Auburn finished 8-5. aTm beat Auburn by 13. LSU posted a series record 54 points on aTm with O in charge and beat them by 15. O should have never gotten the job, but Miles was heading for a losing year last season. LSU looked bad in every game. Miles had been beaten by Arkansas by 17 in consecutive years and had lost to Ole Miss 2 out of the last 3 (and was blown out by them in his last game against them).

That's the problem. Once Assleeva missed on Jimbo and Herman he shut it down. Completely lazy hire! Lsu deserves better than Aleeva . And Orgeron!!!
