Consolation prize. Only one SEC team won a major mens title this year.

Kind of insane LSU finished at 18 after being complete AIDS in the big 3

Solid showing for a conference.
Not sure why this forum is convinced that only 3 sports matter.

There are 360 or so NCAA schools that are D1 for some perspective.
Its no small feat.
I suppose better perspective would be to consider the 70 or so school thats make up the p4 for comparison purposes

We don’t have the 14th best AD in the SEC. Much less the country.

The funniest part is pretending y’all wouldn’t be doing victory laps if your school won it.
If your athletic department finished No. 1 in the country, this board would need FEMA assistance from all the crowing. But since Texas won it, suddenly it’s a “consolation prize.”
Very convenient little standard you’ve built there.
Personally, I’d trade it for a football title, as most of us would. But no SEC team won that last year either, so maybe we can stop acting like everyone else is polishing the most recent football natty while Texas is over here bragging about a participation ribbon.
It’s still a legitimate accomplishment, and it’s absolutely something universities care about, regardless of how hard fans on a message board try to pretend otherwise.

Because their school didn't win it. That's why and we both know it. Can you imagine how insufferable LSU fans would be here if they won it? Since they didn't we'll get to hear how it doesn't matter
I'd still trade it all for a football title. Then again, the SEC isn't exactly knocking that out of the park right now.

I wonder why it’s always the same 2 fanbases that hype up about the Director’s Cup.
Nevermind, I definitely know why.
“Stop guyz, we’re not just like each other!!!”

That took less than 2 minutes. You have to give them credit. They are fast

Sports Bra and Speedo University
No two programs do less with more.
The irony.

Swimming was your 3rd best men's sport, behind golf and t&f. That's irony.

So, there appears to be 4 tiers, although I'm hesitant to include State with Missouri. State's baseball program is elite.
Texas, Florida and Georgia
A&M, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, OU, LSU
Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vandy, South Carolina
Miss State and Missouri

State with a big push at the end not to be the worst finish in SEC history.
Softball World Series + Baseball Super Regional + Tennis Elite 8 + Men's Golf Top 25.
Can't believe there was a worse athletic department than us this year, but big finish. I think State was like 110th before the spring
ETA: 367.5 of State's 445.5 points were in the spring after scoring 0 in Winter sports. Everyone laugh at Missouri.

Yes, they can. We actually win real championships.
