I hope you have fun ignoring your family and furiously refreshing your phone web browser for any potential LSU news.

Why are schools wanting to spend a record amount to hire a coach who was .500 against the guys they just fired?

The GOAT-when Nick Saban was at Michigan State, he had a Big 10 record of 26-17-1. Roughly 60%. Should LSU not have hired him because he lost regularly to Iowa and Penn State and Michigan?

Saban had a 70% SEC record at LSU. Should Alabama not have hired him because he struggled against Florida and sucked as the Dolphins coach?

Lane has a record of 31-17 at Ole Miss in the SEC, roughly 65%. We shouldn't hire him because he lost to better programs?

LSU won national championships with Les Miles and Ed Orgeron. Is Lane as good as those two? Doesn't LSU winning three national championships in 17 years demonstrate they may offer a better opportunity than Ole Miss who has only won one national championship ever-65 years ago ?

You seem scared.

LSU and LSU fans would be much better off if they quit comparing every coach to Nick Saban.

He made Ole Miss into a successful SEC contender. Some of y'all have lost the plot. All jobs are not created equal.

That’s your challenge, not ours. You’ll be making that unfavorable comparison until the day you die.

Seems to be a big group of fans on this site that are fearful LSU might succeed with Kiffin as HC.

Dude LSU could succeed with me as head coach but some of your fan’s takes are insane. The composite is meaningless now, Sage Ryan counts as a 5* on it and chambliss is NR. It takes players high school rankings even for the ones who went into the portal.

Didn’t your HC get beat by Mike Norvel? I don’t think you should be talking little boy!

You offer $90m to a coach and he turns it down, what would you call that?

If it's a coach I don't want, I'd call it a blessing

Brian Kelly turned Cincinnati into a buzzsaw.

2006: 8-5
2007: 10-3
2008: 11-3
2009: 12-1

Next to his time at Grand Valley State, Cincinnati was his most successful coaching stop.

It is hard to predict how coaches will perform on the biggest stage under the most pressure.

Lane has had two of those big stage jobs. Al Davis fired him and then put a hex on his family. USC fired him at an airport. Ed Orgeron held that program together the rest of the season.

Honestly, I had forgotten about the Kiffin/USC debacle until now. But after reading back through all of it, Ed Orgeron looks like the hero in the story who then got done wrong by USC.

If he turns down becoming the highest paid college coach in history it will be a huge miss by LSU.

They will also be better off. Once again you are hiring a high dollar coach with experience who has not shown he knows how to win huge games. Last season Ole Miss should have been a playoff team. But somehow, Ole Miss lost ro Kentucky at home and managed to lose the LSU game by leaving 20 points on the field in the first half. Still, after beating Georgia they were 8-2 and only needed to beat 5-5 Florida and 2-8 MSU. He lost to Florida.

The smart thing to do is identify a young up and comer or a stud coordinator and put the money saved towards facility upgrades. And most importantly LSU won’t be on the hook for an obscene buyout if it doesn’t work.

LSU won’t do the smart thing. They will hire Lane Kiffin and in four years we will be right back here trying to figure out where the buyout money will come from.

Nailed it

However, when your fanbase's most notable discretionary purchase item is automotive genitalia, I don't think wise expenditures are on the table.

Who wants to tell this guy that Mike Norvell is 2-0 against LSU as FSU’s coach? He beat LSU in the Superdome in ‘22 in a primetime kickoff weekend ABC game. Then in ‘23 he beat the brakes off of #5 LSU 45-24 in a primetime opening weekend ABC game.

Walk me through your logic? He is in the SEC and the two SEC schools in contention are in the SEC and if he doesn't leave he is in the SEC.

Why would he care? He's an Ole Miss fan...
