$13m is crazy money for Kiffin, but he's the closest thing to a sure bet.
At least he's proven he can coach in the SEC.

Agreed.
Of course, captdalton will insist that means we guaranteed him to win multiple natties, like he is now doing with BK.

Yeah, but in his defense, he's the byproduct of multiple successive generations of Alabama inbreeding between siblings.

FL and LSU look thirsty as shite.
Just dam.
I can understand UF after the idiotic coaching hires have sunk the program and Kiffin talk has been around for a few years now, but LSU is playing itself right now.
BK won 30+ games in 3.5 seasons. I think LSU saw Lane leaning to UF and tried decided to try to hire him instead.
Lane doesn't even seem like a fit for LSU.
I think if that Sunbelt idiot hadn't failed so miserably, UFwould be more open to Golesh, Chesney and other G5 coaches and coordinators.

He is probably not worth what he will cost. If he still has the fire in his belly to try and bring 'ships to a team for at least 5 yrs he is probably worth the risk.
He seems to make QB's better and at LSU and Florida he could have very good defenses so they could certainly turn the corner.
A mature, hardworking LK is worth the risk but my contract would be 8-10M with incentives (the market is in his favor).
The gamble is you just are not sure what Lane Kiffen you are paying for.

So you're saying LSU would be better off not hiring him?
Put me on record saying yes.

Ole Miss has had really easy schedules the past 2 years. Currently they have the easiest schedule in the SEC. Last year, it wasn't the easiest, Texas and Auburn were, but that schedule was still easier than this year.
The Georgia win this year was his first big SEC win. His other big win in his career came at USC in 2011 when they beat #4 Oregon.

Difference? Lane doing it with less talent!
OM's Team Composite Ranking as of 2025 is 21st in the Nation, so can we stop acting like he's coaching UAB or some shite
He's a good coach, but damn lol

That's all fine, but who is the better candidate?

Kirby is the current highest paid at 13.5 and he’s accomplished just a bit more than Lane in his career. He’s actually won things that matter. Anything at all that matters, which lane has yet to do
So, you’re saying we should offer Kirby 16 mill?

To be the highest paid coach at what you call a top5 program?
Maybe wait a little for the playoffs and such to shake out and see who over achieves at smaller schools for a reasonable price.

Worked for Alabama. Saban retired and Alabama had a replacement within a week, hiring the guy who coached in the National Championship game.
What are you gaining, an extra month of recruiting? And you think that's more important than getting the right guy for the next 3-4 years minimum?

Little different for Alabama, they already had some top end talent stacked.

You’re forgetting the mess left by Luke. He is 4-1 against State. And the one loss is when he tanked 2022 about to leave. If we lose Friday it will be because he tanked the game. Makes his exit easier.
Everyone forgets the effects of NIL. They want to believe the old rules apply. They don’t. Period. Get a fan base who is all in with money and doesn’t blow it on baseball and see what they can do.

We could hire Kirby Smart and he'd find a way to shite all over it. Dude is completely obsessed with LSU. Best to just ignore him.
