FWIW....He got fricking destroyed the next two plays.
I'm glad the referees didn't flag the Mizzou OL - especially the 2nd play after the personal foul - for policing the situation themselves.

It speaka volumes that it takes one of Mizzous own players getting piledriven to get them to actually start driving D-linemen into the ground. Why can't they just do this on every other play?

He should be made to watch game film from the LSU-Auburn, LSU-Towson and LSU-Idaho games to show proper tackling techniques.

That was a good clean hit. This is a contact sport you know.

I would hope that Coach Saban has already made him regret doing that.He must have been a Nick Fairly fan.

Probably because it took two of Mizzou's OL to take down one of UA's 3rd stringers.

Even though I'm an Auburn fan, I thought Nick Fairley crossed the line several times. Fanning's tackle crossed the line too.
At the same time, things like that happen in a flash. You've got the guy wrapped up, but he's not going down. You want to get him on the ground NOW. If you're that strong, picking him up is one option, and....
Not saying it was ok -- it wasn't -- but it wasn't of the premeditated cheap shot variety.

Or we could just come back to the rant and bitch for 10 months about how the game was unfair. You know, the Lsu way

I totally agree. It's not a bad idea to suspend him for a game, but I'd imagine that Saban and Co. know how to handle the situation.

I'm late to this party and I'm sure it's all been said.
That was a dangerous play and I'm sure it was addressed internally. If it continues to happen then you start suspending folks IMO.
I don't know anything about Fanning so I don't know if this is his first time or if this is typical of him.

Well cool then. It's his first time being a dick. Hopefully it's his last.

It was a dirty play.
That being said, I think this is only Fanning's third year to ever play football. He reminds me of the huge dude from the newer Longest Yard movie. He really has no clue what to do or how to do it, he just knows to be violent and tackle the football.
The difference between him and Fairley to me is that I think Fairley is a heck of a football player that has a lot talent but more than anything just knows football and how to play it. He knew what he was doing.

Thoughts on that tackle?

Best part is dude gets his arse handed to him the next two plays.

Those were clean blocks.
You can't suplex a running back.

Can you powerbomb a quarter back?

So has he been suspended or not?
Posted on 10/15/12 at 11:29 am to crimsonsaint
Only Nick Fairley can get away with it.
