Pretty big deal for Bama basketball. Last I heard he was all in on gro pro, so it's great to get him back

Yeah that’s huge news. He had first round written all over him.

Obviously not if he’s coming back

Don’t know if he had a bad combine or what, but he was nearly universally a first rounder in the mocks.

Probably didn't get the guarantee and didn't want to chance going in the 2nd.

Like Pettiford, Philon had last first or early 2nd round projections across mock drafts. Those positions tend to lead to G League contracts of $500K to $1mil. Both of those guys and others in those positions can make more in NIL - and get lots more minutes to hone their games by returning.

He did okay but didn't complete in 5x5 scrimmages. Most mocks had him in between 27-33, and Philon supposedly wanted to be a top 20 pick. If he improves his 3%, that'll happen. Considering he shot much better than we expected last year, I think he still has plenty of room to improve.

There's gonna a lot of good PGs in the SEC next year.

Two great guards returning to the state of Alabama for year two. Going to be another fun year of basketball in the SEC.

He has everything NBA GMs love in a guard besides being consistent from range. They’ll usually draft in spite of that so I’m surprised he fell.
Eh, either way, Bama gets a huge benefit of getting a stud back and he gets the benefit of getting paid to refine his game. One of the good things about NIL.

Bama cant even get a quintessential modern day PG into the NBA.
WOW

doesn’t really matter with all of alabama’s bigs transferring because they were too broke to pay them. Going to get dominated on the boards and inside.

Yeah, it's huge for Alabama. Philon being the primary creator allows all the other guards to play in their comfort zone which is more 3 point shooting and driving more than facilitating the offense. That was the concern with the roster.
Totally agree that for all the negatives of NIL, so many fringe 1st/2nd round guys like Philon, Pettiford, Oweh, Condon etc coming back is great for college basketball fans.
