I doubt there's even a rumor much less any truth to it.

Having said that, many people do reconsider their life when a father/mother passes away. It's fairly common to contemplate your future and your past at times like that.

He's a multi-millionaire who has secured generational wealth and a legacy. If he were to take the Jimmy Johnson path then who could blame him?

I don't think it is true. No grown man, least of all a man in his 50's, lets his father passing away destroy all he has worked for in his own life.

That would be weak, like a child or someone with mental issues.

Nick Saban's father died when he was still in graduate school, he was barely a full grown man, and Nicky went on with his life and amounted to something.

If 'Lil Nick-Nick can do it, so can Kirby.

I don’t think smart is ready to abandon his coaching career but maybe he takes a year off and pursues nfl to get away from college bs
He could do a tv gig for a year

I heard a rumor that Geauxtigers2025 works a gloryhole at truck stops. This is just a rumor I’m hearing, not sure if true.

He will leave for a season then take over at Bama after they fire DeBummer.

This has some validity to it due to Smart being born and living a short while in Alabama and him always wanting to return to Alabama.

It's hard to leave home for good. He tried to come home while coaching under Saban until he realized Saban was never seemingly going to leave, so he might as well leave himself.

Would be the first coach who lost the drive after a father passed. I can imagine it would be a toll considering the situation. Not like he was 90 and just died in his sleep.

I’m sure CKS is sad to lose his father so unexpectedly. I’m sure he was very close to him, and will miss his dad terribly.

CKS will more than likely continue to coach and honor his father’s memory by working harder than ever to win championships at UGA.

Honestly, pretty sad that you're using his dad's passing to start a thread like this.

I'm doubtful, but sure it would be nice if he retired. You would have to be dumb to not want a good coach at a competitor to quit.

If he quits, it won't be because of that and we all know it. The NIL and Portal are the real reasons.
Kirby's dad would definitely want Kirby to continue to coach if that is what he truly wants to do.

And Kirby knows that.

If the OP is true, then Kirby may be realizing that the current landscape with NIL and an unregulated transfer portal is going to age him and other coaches ten times faster than before the changes.

He is already very highly accomplished and may be realizing that the pain of maintaining success is not worth the physical and mental toll it requires.

Not saying I believe Kirby will walk away, but I can absolutely understand why he and other already accomplished coaches would consider doing so.
