re: Kirby Smart is officially a 1/3 of the way through Richt's tenor. When is a NC required?

LSU fans ladies and gentlemen. The BAMA Derangement Syndrome (BDS) is real.

NC are very difficult for the best coaches.. injuries.. breaks.. and everyone is trying to win

Imo it is possible to have players "buy in" enough to where few will sit out or sandbag it like against Texas. Like the other guy said, Kirby is still learning on the job though

Going to the national championship every year except for one is not irrelevant. In 2016 Alabama went and lost at the last second, in 2017 they won, in 2018 they went, and they had two under 7 points losses in 2019.
In what world is that irrelevant?

Not really in this environment, especially the one UGA faced in 2018.
Its a smart business decision for a 1st rounder to skip a non-playoff bowl game.

I'm saying that experience counts, no matter where you coach. You make mistakes in your first HC job. Just because KS got his at UGA doesn't mean he doesn't have to learn how to be a head coach.
Took Dabo 8 1/2 seasons at Clemson.
You really think Saban would have won a title so quickly if Alabama was his first HC job?
What about O at LSU?
To just ignore all the facts is short sighted.

Dabo is a great example. Dude was a dud early in his career. They were a complete joke (think WVU orange bowl).
I’m sure the thought of him winning 2 NCs in 3 years was laughable at that point. For some reason Kirby isn’t afforded that same patience.

I thinking hiring Venables was the turning point for Dabo. Before that he was seen as a glorified assistant coach. Maybe Kirby has found his equivalent on the offensive staff? We'll see.

You mean besides the 2 national championships?
Posted on 5/27/20 at 9:27 pm to RD Dawg
All I’m saying is it’s apples and oranges when trying to compare Kirbys first 4 years to Saban and O. I don’t think it’s reasonable to try to compare Saban taking over Michigan state program that had won 14 games total the prior 4 years to him taking over. Compare that to Kirby taking over a major power 5 sec program that averaged around 10 wins the 4 years prior to Kirby taking over.
You get what I’m saying?
And experience does matter. Coach O would tell you he did a lot of things wrong when he was first a coach at ole miss. As coaches get experience they evolve, Kirby is still in the early part of his career as a head coach so I imagine he will be doing things different than when he first started.

Bad comparison.
O failed miserably before he learned his lesson.
Kirby is just coming up short.
There is nothing to suggest he will understand why he will keep failing. He will just tweak the little shite around him, but not himself.
And UGA fans will allow it
