It's different in that Alabama had a coach in December, the most important month for acquiring/retaining players.
Mark my words, if LSU or Florida still doesn't have a coach by the month of January, fans will be nervous/mad af I won't blame them. The constant stream of rumors & speculation over the course of two months will build an explosive powderkeg.

LSU doesn’t need Kiffin . Saban will be the next coach. He has unfinished business at LSU.

When Kiffin left Alabama there was no early signing period nor was there a transfer portal. It's is a different age when it comes to being able to team build than it was back then.

Someone willing to put an ounce of effort would have seen that Kiffin would have had us in the playoffs before under the current format. You are not that someone.
Also this was wildly considered to be a rebuilding season with next year being “the year”

You can combine all 3 categories and the 1 playoff appearance holds up.

I find it funny that there are a lot of reports about how Lane Kiffin loves Ole Miss and loves living in Oxford - why would he make a lateral move to LSU or Florida if he loves where he is currently living and coaching at?

Neither LSU or Florida would have to wait. It will be done contractually well before January, if it happens. And you absolutely wait to get the right coach, even if it means sacrificing one ESD and some of the portal period.

You believe it’s a hypothetical that a decent coach can consistently take LSU, Penn State, or Florida to the playoffs? While Ole Miss will likely never consistently compete at that level? And never has competed at that level?

LSU and UF can get 5 star recruits which are necessary for championships especially trench baws
