He is about to be the most overpaid coach as well.

Yet we smacked that arse this year. How much was that buyout?
And he still wants to leave your school

Doing this at Ole Miss is equivalent to winning natties at a powerhouse school. Sorry
He had a team last year most “powerhouse” schools would be envious of and he still fricking blew it

Amazing. That guy is always failing upwards.
Doesn't deserve to be the highest paid coach, but he's certainly earned "the upward fall" this time.
Crazy to be paying him the most when he hasn't won anything of significance. But it's LSU. I guess they feel pretty safe they can find cause to fire Lane if they want to let him go.

I member when folks said that Saban was nuts in hiring him at Bama as a consultant to fix the offensive mess that was left behind by Daddy Nussmeier.
Funny how life runs in circles.

He was an NFL coach and that led to one of the most iconic firings in the history of the NFL. The end of his TN tenure is legendary with near riots in Knoxville, and ultimately led to mustard bottles being thrown at him during a game.
After TN, he was given the keys to the football powerhouse of California. A State that holds the most high school football talent in the USA. He was fired, and left on the tarmac after an away game, and left to find his own way home. He has never won ANYTHING of consequence.
If you told this to some ignorant person who has never followed football at all, they would think you were making this up when you tell them he's on the verge of being the highest paid coach in the history of college football.

Well we are going to find out.

What he has done at a mid tier
power 5 school is very impressive. What he would be able to do at a school like LSU could be historic.

Never liked Kelly, and certainly wasn’t excited about the hire

I've never understood the hoopla about Kiffin.
Maybe, but Bobby Petrino would certainly hire his ex-wife for a Harley ride or 2.

You're not wrong about him failing up. But it's always been because of the potential. He's an odd puzzle piece. You have to fit it correctly. We'll see how this works. Could be total garbage. But I doubt it.

They'll be sure to set him up fast with some married Cajun queens.

I think he's just optimizing his risk.
Jobs are just another column on his spreadsheet.
