Good point, the conference did nothing to enforce the rule when Alabama played a pro player yet sued LSU over just the threat of playing two.

Exact language:
Specifically, Defendants waged a deliberate and coordinated campaign to recruit professional athletes to play football for LSU during the 2026-27 season, including players who had signed NFL contracts with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Numerous reports have shown that at least two of these professional athletes are on campus and actively practicing with LSU's football team. Defendants have also expressed their unequivocal intent to place those athletes on LSU's official football roster and allow them to participate in football games during the upcoming season.
You all don't even remotely realize what is going on. It's no longer about eligibility directly.
It goes further:
Despite the SEC's longstanding rules prohibiting professional athletes from returning to college athletics, Defendants saw this as an opportunity to be exploited,
The SEC brings this action to vindicate its First Amendment right of expressive association, i.e. its right not to be forced to associate its competitions, brand, and championships with conduct that it has expressly condemned since the SEC's founding. The SEC also seeks declaratory and injunctive relief to vindicate the SEC's right to disassociate from conduct that directly undermines the SEC's organizational purpose and core values.
Today, the SEC is a sixteen-member association," the SEC lawsuit said. "The Presidents and Chancellors of the SEC's member institutions have governed together across generations, operating under a set of shared rules that have shaped the athletic and educational paths of thousands of student-athletes and provided the competitive integrity and fair competition necessary for the SEC to thrive.
Those rules are not fine print. They are the governing framework that keeps college sports unique, protects opportunities for high school and college student-athletes, and preserves competitive equity and fair competition.

Clarification was totally necessary, as for years the conference had wondered whether pro players were eligible, but they clarified it thank god

We want what should’ve been done in the first place, a blanket waiver for 2022 players and 2022 players only
And people to stop acting indignant about a player who never took a single nfl mini or training camp practice snap and got paid $109 for gas trying to come back for a 5th year. Because he is an “NFL player”
While the players who have participated in multiple mini camps for multiple teams get scooped up by universities across the country without so much as a whisper
Why people pretend like this argument is ludicrous is beyond me, which is why I think it’s fake outrage and really just an I hate Kiffin and lsu but mostly Kiffin thing

Oh y’all are all about “tHe players.” What about the players that were promised a spot out of high school (listen 18 year old recruit moment) and now they are moved back several spots after busting their arse because (another player????) comes in and has NFL experience (diet, industry best practices knowledge, top tech pro athlete engineering) and moves him back. Listen up recruits. Knowledge is power.

Not at all, but I also believe this is only happening because of selective enforcement in the past.
You can't just constantly let people circumvent the rules through the courts and then crack down on one. That's what got the NCAA in the spot they're in.
If the SEC is going that route, it really does LSU no good to be a part. Especially when a certified doofus is running the show, no one can objectively look at that performance as anything halfway competent.
