Serious question: have you ever tackled someone in a football game?

Turner was called was the exact penalty he would have been called for in the NFL for that play - roughing the passer, 15 yard penalty.

Wrong, everyone is forgetting he drove JD5 into the turf, you can't do that anymore by the rules. If you're going to make the rule, at least follow it fairly on both sides.

Right, which is the main reason he'd have gotten a 15 year roughing penalty. What exactly is wrong about it? Are you under the assumption the NFL would have given him some sort of 30 yard penalty or ejected him from the game?

Too bad fanbase agreement doesn't change the scoreboard.

nope, it doesn't. not calling it targeting in the game doesn't change the outcome of it. I know that, along with any reasonable person. the problem people have is the consistency of the targeting calls. we've see targeting called for WAY less than what occurred saturday. the hit saturday checked every box for targeting. it's the inconsistency of these officials.

Lane is wrong and biased in this case. Textbook tackle.

I can only think of one solution for that:

Okay. It was targeting. So what? It wouldn't have changed a damn thing. Roughing the passer was still called so LSU would have gotten a free 15 yards either way you slice it. Turner would have been out for the remainder of the game but so too would have Daniels.

Why are we still talking about this?

And we had LSU fans calling for lynchings. And hoping more tornadoes hit Tuscaloosa.

That’s a far damn cry from hoping a solid pop on a QB happens to rattle them. That’s football. Or do you not want physical play anymore?

By the definition some here seem to want to follow now, the Landry hit on JPW in 2007 would be considered dirty now.

That is TEXTBOOK tackling!!

Both LSU and Alabama teach the same technique, facemask to the chest, wrap the arms and lift. LSU actually coaches a sideways roll like an alligator if you will, to knock the opponent off balance. A technique that is now under scrutiny for a rule change as it leads to knee injuries. It's almost as if football is a dangerous game.

LSU Drills Rolling during tackling

Former LSU coach, and my coach back in the day, "Boots" Garland used to say, "Football is not a contact sport! It is a collision sport!" Game is over, time to move on to the next.

By simply being a starting QB, JD5 is giving the perception that you can be a 100lb string bean and be safe in a tackle football game. Maybe he can join the Collegiate Flag Football League

What do you think they were doing during the 5 minutes the trainers were out on the field tending to JD?

My "narrative" is that I don't want to watch backup QBs play across the league due to such tackles.

I was enjoying a great matchup between two entertaining quarterbacks, and that "hit" put an end to my entertainment.
