He'd be a good coach for LSU, but I just kind of feel like the favorite person should automatically get discarded because it never works out that way for whatever reason.

Bob Stoops +900? People are actually wasting money on bets like this?

Napier would do good at LSU. He already knows the high school coaches in that state and is a good coach

In the post-Saban era, LSU coaches have nicknames which fit their personality.
- The Hat
- Shrimp Boat Captain

If the list provided above, the following qualify:
Lane Kiffin - Joey Freshwater
John Gruden - Chucky
Jimbo Fisher - Slim Jim
Urban Meyer - Urban Cryer

I know. It is odd in this day and age to have a Head Coach that shows loyalty to his school.

Where did this narrative come from that Pittman is an "Arkansas man" through and through?

He was born in Oklahoma.

His alma mater is Pittsburgh State University.

In his nearly 30 year career as a coach, he only coached at Arkansas for 3 years (prior to becoming the head coach). Places he spent the same or more time at include Northern Illinois, UNC and UGA.

So strange that he's been branded an "Arkansas man"

Why is Mel Tucker so low? Wasn't ESPN reporting that he was on a short list?

I will say it is nice to have a coach that isn't spending his every waking hour quietly lobbying for another job.

Not that I am saying Lane Kiffin would ever do that to Ole Miss.

Lane has no time for that between footballing, twittering, chasing hotties, and beating Arky and 10RC. Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

Fickell, Napier and Mark Stoops are the only 3 on that list that are realistic that I’d want at LSU.
Aranda, Kiffin and Franklin are sort of interesting.
The rest are meh or unobtainable/toxic (Gruden and Meyer)

You haven't been paying attention. This was his dream job. He has stated this himself. After this gig he is retiring and has bought lake property here. He has stated this. He has said all of this multiple times. He grew up watching the hogs. Do a Google search man.

Let me help you

Pittman aint going anywhere

quote:

FAYETTEVILLE — As long as Arkansas will have him, fans won’t have to worry about Sam Pittman getting wandering eyes.
From the day he was hired, the first-time head coach has made it no secret that he wants to end his career in Fayetteville.

quote:

Pittman joined Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter for an interview Tuesday night. When asked about his 15 coaching stops over the previous 36 years and whether or not he felt like he could finally unpack the boxes and settle down, Pittman gave an answer that was music to fans’ ears.
“This statement is probably going to cost me a little bit of money one of these days, but this is it for me,” Pittman told Van Pelt. “I’m not interested in any other program. Arkansas is truly the greatest program in America to me.
“I grew up 75 miles from here, I have a lake home on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, my wife is from Pittsburg, Kansas, and we’re home and this is where we want to be. And this will be my last job.”

Pittman is an Arkansas guy

quote:

Pittman said he and Jamie's love for Arkansas played a big role in their desire to return after his stint from 2013-15 as offensive line coach and assistant head coach. He went to Georgia as offensive line coach in 2016 and added the assistant head coach title this season.
By landing the Arkansas job, Pittman said he went from the doghouse to the penthouse swiftly with his wife.
"You know Jamie's from Pittsburg, Kansas," he said. "We did not get a divorce when we left Arkansas for a year, but she did not talk to me for a year when I was in Athens.
"She just loved Arkansas. She's like me. When the opportunity came to come back, she was ecstatic and she's still that way, and honestly so am I. It's hard to explain the passion that you have for a program. It's a lot easier to show it."

I'll add, Kiffen isn't leaving Ole Piss in year 2 to go to LSU. I dont think LSU would even pursue him given the off the field stuff with O.

He grew up going to Arkansas games.

Might want to look how close his hometown is to Fayetteville.

Also he doesn’t have kids and Arkansas will be his last job even if he doesn’t make it 4 more years.

If LSU wants Kiffin they will take him. I don’t think they do but if they did he’d be gone tomorrow.

He could win a NC at LSU. Can’t do that at OM. Can’t even get to Atlanta at OM

God I hope LSU hires Bill O'Brien.

They will throw Ed's 9 million per year to Lane Kiffin.
If that doesnt work they'll hire Napier for 5 million per.

I KNOW Ed O is recommending Lane Kiffin. He's literally talking about Lane all through his presser today.

Fickell will never leave the midwest, so they can stop with that pipe dream. Franklin isn't leaving Penn State for Baton Rouge either.

Lane isn't going to LSU. Only other SEC team he'd leave for at this point would be Alabama.

Why do Ole Miss fans believe they have Kiffin locked up? Your program will probably never seriously compete for any sort of title, and I doubt Lane would want to spend more than 5 years living in Mississippi.

Once a better job opens up, just consider him gone.
