Keys for the game

Let's discuss the game itself.
What I need to see from Ole Miss:
Offense
- We need to click better on offense. We've had our big plays but what has been missing from the 2 first games is consistent long drives on offense.
- Our WR room needs to step up. We've primarily targeted Deuce Alexander, mainly because of his speed but the rest of our WRs need to get some meaningful receptions, especially in our short passing game.
Defense
- Our secondary needs to wake up from their slumber. We've been burned on big plays in both games.
- The DL and LBs need to play aggressive and put pressure on LSU's backfield.
LSU

- Nothing needs to change. LSU's defense is impressive. Their secondary has not been tested really due to the level of teams they have played, but they also haven't given up much.

Kind of the thing I think the "rah, rah, we're the shanizzle" LSU fans are missing. And they are gonna need it to be better if they are gonna be as good as they think they already are.

Cant argue with any thing pointed out in that post. If LSU finds its running game, the passing game will click, no matter who the QB is. Levitt and Clark are similar QB's.

LSU's defense has obviously been impressive, but I think a key for this game is getting off the field on third down. I'd imagine Ole Miss is going to have a bunch of 3rd and 5 or less. If LSU can hold them to less than 50% conversion rate on 3rd down, I think LSU wins. If Ole Miss converts those to keep drives moving, LSU's offense is going to have to win a shoot out.

If it's close late in the 3rd quarter I'm curious to see how well the LSU starters play down the stretch. I only say that, because the starters have larger exited the game before the 4th quarter since their games were largely under control. Not saying it will be an issue, just something I'll be watching for IF it's close at that point.

Im interested to see if LSU can get a run game going- we had only 150 rushing last game as opposed to almost 300 against clemson bit I think clemson is just a horrible team.
Can LSU O look like it did against Clemson or will it look like it did against LA Tech which was not good at all.

Key to the game is making Leavitt uncomfortable. Knock Leavitt’s arse out every time he runs. He’s so reckless he’s gonna get wrecked on some of his runs. Then make him sit in the pocket. He throws 50/50 balls and sails balls under pressure. LSU’s guards and RT against Echoles Franklin Oatis and Bireau is a major advantage to Ole Miss.

I just hope we get the bugs worked out of our defense. Nothing makes you want to break stuff more than when you keep holding a team to 3rd down and then give up a huge play for them to get another 1st down.

The first thing I'd do if I was JDB would be to try to attack the youth in our interior DL. If ANY offense has success in the A/B gap it becomes extremely hard to stop. Add the Chambliss problem on top of it and it could be tough.
We've looked great there so far hopefully we can keep it up against a better opponent.

Ole Miss is going to get pressure, especially with the matchup they have up front. But I think you’re leaving out a pretty big part of the equation, Leavitt can move.
Getting pressure on him and actually containing him are two different things. If those guys start pinning their ears back and getting upfield all night, he’s more than capable of stepping through a gap and taking off. That can turn what looks like a busted play into 15–20 yards pretty damn quick.
And Kiffin knows the pressure is coming. I seriously doubt the plan is to have Leavitt stand back there like a statue and let Ole Miss tee off on him. I’d expect them to move the pocket, use some RPOs, quick throws, QB runs and let his legs slow that pass rush down.
Now, I do agree that if Ole Miss can get pressure while keeping him contained and force him to consistently beat them from the pocket, that favors Ole Miss. I’ve been quite the critic on our QB play. He’ll take chances and he’ll put some balls up for grabs.
But just saying “he’ll have pressure in his face all night”, I think Kiffin will welcome that. Swing your linebackers and leave the safeties on an island and Kiffin will be glad to counter. With a mobile QB, sometimes getting pressure without staying disciplined is exactly what gets you burned.
This game will be fun.

I expect Baker to try to bring the house against Chambliss. However, that is also when Chambliss seems to shine.
One thing we have against us is Charlie Weiss knowing what Chambliss' weaknesses are. I am sure he fed anything that he could to Baker.

This is 100% correct and a very good take.
I think that we will apply moderate pressure, maybe spy him with 1 or 2 LBs but our weakness is also our secondary, so we are going to try to pull back the pressure some to defend the pass.

We don’t really do that. We get pressure with our D Line and have fast aggressive LB’s that shoot gaps when they open up. Suntarine Perkins will be spying him like he spied Jaden Daniels.
I think you try to limit his big runs shut down Dillin Jones who isn’t as good as Isaac Brown and force Leavitt to sit in the pocket in a hostile crowd.
For our secondary. Flip Braxton and Joseph and getting Denson and Kite back should clean up the busts.
