Just speculating, but watching the original video, I wouldn't count out the possibility that him originally passing out was a more benign issue (dehydration, locking knees, etc.) and the serious injury was caused by his head hitting the ground with no brace for impact.

Idiopathic cardiomyopathy can be caused by COVID as well as by colds, flus, and other infections. We're more fragile than people realize most of us are just lucky but if he did test positive for COVID and also developed cardiomyopathy chances are good that the two are related. It's not earth shattering news and really shouldn't be what anyone focuses on.

I get that you are taking up for the press because they are your kind of people but they test these kids for heart problems. They didn’t mention that.

Why not?

You and I both know why.

sigh

quote:

“Before our student-athletes who are infected return to activity, they will complete a cardiac evaluation that includes a troponin level test, an electrocardiogram and an echocardiogram. The student-athletes will also have a complete medical evaluation by UFHealth physicians,” Stricklin said Friday.

COVID-19 has been linked to myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, a rare condition found in some college athletes who recovered from the virus.

The troponin level is a blood draw that shows if there’s been any damage to the heart. A technician will perform an EKG and record a player’s heart rhythm, while an echocardiogram (ultrasound) monitors the heart’s movements, how the blood flows and if all the valves and chambers are working properly. All of these tests will be reviewed by a cardiologist.
He was cleared from myocarditis and cardio issues after his covid infection

So if he did have viral induced myocarditis, it would be from a different infection

Again and this is an *if*... If he has idiopathic cardiomyopathy then it's not something that tests would necessarily pick up. An infection over time would cause the heart to enlarge and he would've likely been screened long before.

As for my kind of people? wtf? I'm just pointing out that idiopathic cardiomyopathy happens and the root cause is often cold, flu, covid, infection etc. I'm also pointing out that it should NOT be the focus. This kid getting well should be the focus.

Could be. ESPN wants it to be COVID related though.

Initial story?

Jeff Goodman’s dumbass didn’t even wait an hour before tweeting about COVID being linked to it on Saturday.

Trey Mann sent out a tweet for support and the press immediately jumped in to try and get more info. They have no shame.

Not sure why I’m being downvoted.

If you don’t have any fricking new information about Key, and your trying to insinuate COVID, you can frick off.
