Kentucky has a football team? That's great to know. You just never know what obscure trivia will be revealed on this board.

You don't remember getting taken to OT in College Station?

Blackout drunk by that point I imagine?

What exactly is it that they hope to accomplish? If the aim is just to be crybabys and piss people off, they are succeeding. Otherwise, they have successfully tried to destroy cities, stop interstates, tear down historical monuments, impact sports... I STILL have NO IDEA what it is that they want to be done. Usually there is a point to protests (end the war, release the prisoner, etc.).

You do not understand Black people! Once you know their culture/lifestyle then you will get it! I believe that is what this is all about! Their way or there is going to be destruction along the way!

Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Miracle on Ice, etc.

Politics have always found a way to sneak into the sports world and always will.

Interesting, the coach and the assistants all walked with them.

There is a reason to spell STATE in the logo.....

But they still misspell their own name....

If you read what Kentucky's players outlined as their reasoning it's actually Wayyyyy more grounded and common sensed than the professional athletes

quote:

On Thursday afternoon, Kentucky players Luke Fortner and Josh Paschal addressed the media, explaining what they hope to achieve via their protest.

“We plan on reaching out to youth groups across Lexington,” Fortner said. “We plan on reaching out to the police and finding out ways that we can communicate and figure out a solution because it’s not a one-sided issue. It’s not. There’s a side to every single story, and we understand that and we are doing what it takes to get everyone together and discuss that. And we want our tangible solution right now to be to educate our youth, because that’s where it’s all starts. Like you said, it’s a generational problem. We want everyone growing up to be able to embrace differences with other people. We don’t want it to be something where, you know, I live here they don’t live here — why should I care? We want to be something where everyone is willing to embrace the differences of other people.”

But those guys did compete in their event.

I still disagree with what they did in 1968. I watched it when it happened and was very disappointed in them at that time.

I fully support protesting but not on somebody else’s dime. On your own time, protest to your heart’s content. Simple as that.

It’s just a harmless, peaceful protest. I’d much rather they express themselves this way then to be looting or rioting

I just hope the professional rioters and looters don’t get wind of this and use it as an excuse to descend upon Lexington.

Lulz, do you think they would make a statement in Lexington? Did you see what downtown was like when Trump came a spoke at Rupp and there was protesters...they got shout down with quickness. The protesters would be outnumbered by every hick from the sticks of rural Kentucky.
