It's still all about KU. They (KU) can't stand the fact MU was good enough in all sports to move up to the best sports conference in the NCAA and KU was not. I don't think anybody wants them, not even the B12.

Right.

I don't think the purpose of the article was to talk shite on SEC schools.. The article was about the crazy fandom of the SEC that most MIZZOU fans don't fully understand. So many students and fans here just don't get it.

The KC Star editorial board is filled with University of Kansas grads and is notorious in Mizzou circles for having a pro-ku slant. We don't take that paper's crap seriously, and neither should you guys. Bare in mind as you look at the article (which I'm not gonna waste my time reading) that it comes with an undertone of trying to appeal to basketball-obsessed, football illiterate kansas jayhawk fans who despise Missouri's move to the SEC and hence now despise the SEC in general. Things like this kinda got under their skin toward the end and they are now vindictive as hell:

Yes but my OTHA BROTHA a few posts up from that agrees with me. So, we have a 2-1 majority on this page of the thread and hence you can take our view as being the embodiment of a majority of the Mizzou fandom. I proved it with science.

I should add that the KC Star is the same paper that just a few weeks ago, in a video slideshow montage it put on its website of Mizzou program achievements and moments as we begin our new journey into the SEC, "inadvertantly" slipped in a photo of a controversial Mizzou player leaving the jailhouse back in 2003. And the video editor just happened to be a Kansan, shocking. It was actually pretty clever as a RickRoll of the Mizzou fandom, except that this was supposedly a professionally run newspaper that people pay money for and don't need to be RickRoll'd by. The Star's head sports editor then issued a public sort-of-apology column, the tone of which was that Mizzou fans should just be happy that the Star is covering us at all since the ku and K-State folks think we should be completely ignored and boycotted for leaving and that KC is "Big 12 Country."
That rag is a kansas piece of shite, through and through. Their Mizzou beat writer is decent and they know they have to at least TALK about the SEC to try to cash in on all the interest on our side of the border, but they will always be doing so from an angle of trying to play to their kansas readership foremost.

The funniest part of that article is reading the comments from Kansas fans trying to convince everyone they wanted no part of the SEC and wouldn't have accepted if invited. It's so funny seeing fans of the afterthought programs in the Big 12 (Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, etc) still trying to convince themselves that Missouri and A&M sold out their academic standards by joining the SEC. None of them bother to look at the academic rating actually showing the SEC to be a stronger league academically.
As for the whole story about an Alabama fan shooting and killing LSU fans, according to the articles the LSU couple came onto the Alabama fan's property threatening him. Yeah, he went too far but it gets a little old how that particular story is taken out of context to make the Alabama fan look like the aggressor.

I don't disagree with what you're saying. I'm sure there were plenty of undertones in that article.
I have also noticed lots of talk in the past few weeks (in mid-mo area) about SEC tradition and craziness that we(mizzou fans) don't understand, yet. The only reason I pretend like I know a little more than my fellow students and fans is because of SECr. It has given me a small taste of the craziness. and I love it.
When Georgia rolls in here, I think most of us will be in for a wake up call.

One thing you need to know for sure.
SECr =/= real life.
People aren't actually this crazy at the game. Believe it or not, Bama and Auburn fans tailgate together at the Iron Bowl. I party my arse off with LSU fans every year.
An anonymous message board where people are allowed to be as crazy as possible is no indicator of the way things really are. You aren't getting any taste of reality whatsoever by being here.

You don't have to overthink it.
In the SEC, football is the cake and basketball is the icing. Missouri being a very good basketball program is significant...but being a great basketball program wasn't going to make up for a dismal football program. So sorry, KU. Good luck.

Bama has as many NC's in the last 3 years as Auburn has ever.

I also think there's to much hype into trying to get up to speed with all these traditions, whatever they are. Mizzou over time will adjust to this and make some new traditions of thier own along the way.
