Comparison seems unfair to Miles.
Miles took over Saban’s team and if anything improved them from where they were under Saban. Contrary to what some people seem to think today, Saban did not create a dynasty at LSU.
DeBoer is taking Saban’s Alabama dynasty and losing 4 games with it.

If tweet fails to load, click here. I think this weekend proved the players Saban recruited at the end weren’t up to the standard of the dynasty. It’s time to stop pretending that 2023 Alabama was anywhere close to 2010-2020 Alabama.
Alabama missed on several evaluations at the end of the Saban years.

I can deal with his milquetoast personality if he leaves with a national championship or two. I love a hard arse coach as much as anybody, but not every great coach is fire and brimstone, chew-your-arse-out like Saban. Gene Stallings, Tom Osborne and Jim Tressel were pretty mild-mannered and businesslike and they’re legends. No, I’m not equating DeBoer with them, just a comparison of different styles of coaching.

Look - LSU beat a very mediocre lame duck team. There’s a lot of football to be played and they have probably the hardest schedule in CFB. Pump the breaks.

Saban couldn’t maintain top coaches. Look at the 2015 staff and compare it to 2023 with Tommy Rees and Kevin Steele.
Every coordinator from 2014-2020 is currently a head coach in FBS, most of those in the P4. His inability to build and maintain a solid staff made it more difficult to recruit and maintain a solid roster - that + the portal and NIL.

KD is far more intelligent. Les had great o-lines, nasty defenses and a constant stable of running backs, which created some very good teams. KD is nowhere near as stubborn as Miles. Stack 8 even 9 in the box, Miles would still call a fullback dive on 3rd and 8. There were so many games leaving the stadium after a win, but felt like it was a loss against directional in-state teams. No need to get into clock management here, but omg. I will say this, KD has some balls following the best to ever coach. He's a very good coach, but following Saban is almost a no-win gig no matter how reasonably well his teams perform.
Whoever above eluded to LSU playing only one game so far - agree. There's a lot of football left with a very difficult schedule. However, the excitement you see from LSU fans right now is justified. An offense finally exists and the team overall seems to have an identity. No doubt Clemson is a shell of its former self. Their o-line seemed talentless and uncoached.
