Has Bama ever extended a coach coming off a 4 loss season?

You do if the alternative is him leaving for another job. Look at the current coaching market, if KDB leaves right now Bama is fricked. Not to mention it could set the program back a number of years if you have a complete staff, system, and roster overhaul. Sure, it's not a great idea to make it harder to fire someone with 7 losses in 2 seasons, except when the alternative is even worse

Are you that worried he'll leave? I wouldn't be.

We're talking about a worse situation, resource wise, and overall.

I'm neither a fan nor against CKD but it's way too soon to talk extension

He is not doing a bad job. Two things. One this is a totally new era of CFB and even Sabans process had started to grow stale because kids are getting paid now they don’t care. Two he is not a bad coach, Bama has simply regressed to the mean of good college football programs. Unless you can afford to buy a great roster and then continue to pay those same players to stay most teams like Alabama, LSU and Georgia are going to hit gold a year or two and then regress. That’s CFB now. All that can be asked of these coaches are playoff appearances and a run every few years. We just watched schools set themselves back chasing what Saban was doing at Alabama firing coaches every two or three years. I don’t want Alabama making that mistake again like they did post Stallings.

TideSaint?
Well at least half of that is working.
Good luck in the CFP. I’m betting you get by OU. I’ve got Bama +1

Neither you nor I have discussed it with Sexton, whereas I’m sure Byrne has. So maybe Byrne is worried it could be a real possibility

It’s a bad situation right now and their athletic department needs to get cleaned up, but in terms of resources, I imagine their potential NIL resources are significantly greater than Bama’s.

'Ol Sidewalk bragged about that winning percentage of BK though. He rode that train all the way until it derailed and then switched up real quick like it was nothing!!

Good. Lock him down for a decade. Better throw in a huge buyout to keep him.

This would be a bad move by Alabama.

I will still say it's still hilarious that so many here constantly trashed BK when your own coaches have been just as bad or worse.

Shula in 2005
DuBose in 1999.
Bill Curry in 1989, but he turned it down.

Not really. I think they were like 2 years or less. DuBose won the SEC and Shula managed 10 wins after being heavily sanctioned.

Seems reasonable to me.
