And it wasn’t “all over their band;” it was one cadet who tossed it on a few of those fringe-wearing chuckleheads.

Texas A&M and Texas are complete opposite types of cultures. It’s Traditions vs Wokeism. It’s good ol’ country boys and gals VS elite country clubbers. It’s blue collar vs white collar. It’s hard workers vs entitled greek clubs. Rivalry goes beyond sports. Obv there’s money on both sides, but the cultures are far apart. I root against Texas sports teams no matter who they play, period.
High schoolers choose their school based on their cultural fit. We have friends from the other school because we were friends in high school. We have family ties. We work and live alongside each other, at which point the rivalry ends because we both love the great state of Texas.
Why do Texas and OU hate each other? I feel it’s just bragging rights, but there’s probably more.

In this case, however, I think it was horse shite. Wasn't it the underclassmen in Parson's that did this?

Buy yourself an Oklahoma hat any time you're headed to Austin and you'll find out pretty quick.

I have lived in Austin since the '90s. Nobody gives a damn here and there are plenty of OU hats and personalized license plate cars. Hell most people from Austin aren't even Texas fans, it's a metro over over 2 million and most of them have moved here from somewhere else. It's rare you can even find a native Austinite and most Texas fans are either tshirt folks or they barely follow sports.
The idea that Austin is some super hostile place for people from OU is freaking hilarious. BTW, it's not much worse for Aggies either except when we play on gameday. OU doesn't ever play Texas in football in Austin either so that doesn't apply.
TLDR, your post is terrible and shows your ignorance.

This is the TRUTH, though the 'sips don't admit it:
They HATE A&M. They love to beat OU because OU has owned them in football.
If you live in Texas, you KNOW what the feelings are. It's just comical that the 'sips like to deny A&M.
Frankly, A&M is fine without the rivalry, but it will be nice to kick them around when they join. They will always be the #1 rival due to the in-state aspect, but LSU is where the future rivalry lies for A&M.
THAT is the perfect rivalry in the making. These will be the two best all-around programs in the near future, and the natural border rivalry and historical (which many arent even aware) just adds to it- not to mention we really and truly don't like each other.
I'd say A&M/Texas is Florida/Fl State, and A&M/LSU is FL/Georgia.
Texas has its own Fl/Ga with Arkansas. Texas/OU is great in football, but there is very little genuine rivalry outside of that sport. and THAT's the truth.

The answer to the OP is look at posts here on tRant and see how OU and Texas fans treat each other and talk to each other and then look at A&M and Texas. You literally have to ask them about their rivalry so they can remind themselves they are rivals. Texas and A&M fans hate each other about pretty much everything all the time.
Texas loses to OU and they are sad for a day. OU is a school Texas should dominate in every way but theyTexas loses to A&M and they stew about it for a year or longer.

As an OU fan I don't think that take is all that accurate. Way to flattering to OU.
Texas hates ATM like you hate your neighbor that they look down upon. Not really any different than the typical Flag/Ag rivalry other than Aggies are more irritating (in both a good and bad way).
They hate OU because they can't stand that a life form (the Okie) they see as inferior to them can compete with them.
The disdain that Texans have for Okies as people far surpasses the disdain they have for their fellow Texans.
They are repulsed by Okies. One of my old time buddies says this. "An OU fan sees more nose hairs on an October Saturday afternoon at Fair Park than an ENT Doc sees in a lifetime."

Truth^. Texas/OU is a once a year BIG THING. That's about it.
This whole Texas to the SEC thing is because of ONE THING:
A&M is starting to dominate them in football (and baseball).

In the past decade, we see a lot more of the hair on top, as they hang their heads in shame.
Wonder how many nose hairs the Kansas fans counted as they exited Memorial Stadium last November...

100% accurate.
There a lot of SEC fanbases represented in Austin, so wearing A&M gear brings out conversations with those fans.

I'd be shocked if you're actually an Aggie. I mean, a Former Student. You sound like an 11 yr old, or a complete white-trash t-shirt fan.
Maybe you should start wearing burnt orange- you'd be a better representative of Texas A&M than your current trash-mouth stupid rants.

Fair enough....my personal take is that Texas hates A&M more than OU and more than they would like to let on to A&M fans just to make them even more mad.

I come from a mixed family, so I can speak from experience.
The 'sips look down upon Aggy as someone they see as an inferior. Deep inside, they have just never gotten beyond the days of leather helmets and an all-male student body. I think back in my childhood to the books of Aggie Jokes published by t.u., and every joke played to those stereotypes. 'Sips are raised on them. Yes, they want to beat Aggy, badly, but it is more from a sense of not wanting to be embarrassed than "hatred." By analogy, it is similar to Aggy feelings about Tech.
The 'sips HATE Oklahoma with the heat of ten thousand suns, mostly because Okie sees Okie as the superior, and the 'sips disagree (strongly). 'Sips see Okie as a true rival for greatness. They are LESS embarrassed about losses to Okie, because they see Okie as (more or less) their equals ... and they don't see many that way.
'Sips cheer for OU against Aggy, because their little minds simply cannot handle the possibility that their "rival for greatness" might be defeated by lowly Aggy. It's like they think it would damage them by osmosis.
I think you've nailed it, AggieHank86. Your perspective is a bit more encompassing and I believe you have accurately described your rivalry quite well. Thanks!!
Texas/Michigan sees Oklahoma/Ohio State as a nationally respected, elite-tier team. They want to beat that team, but it's a "you win some, you lose some" type of matchup, where your loss might just fuel the fanbase to be more fired up for the next matchup.
Some people use the term "little brother", but I'd say "little sister" is the better way to phrase it.
As in, Oklahoma/Ohio State is the cool guy they want to date, and they don't want anyone noticing "little sister" has grown up and might be prettier.

They’ll always tell you that.
The difference: Horns don’t run into Land Thieves until they’re college dorks.
On the contrary, Ags and horns grow up as neighbors, family members, work colleagues, elementary-HS friends, parishioners, little league parents … the list is endless.
OU—at least what they tell the media—is a “State of Texas vs State of OK” fraud.
The two can’t be compared.
Ags chuckle at the “We hate Sooners” mantra from the sips.
It’s a college gig—one I can appreciate—but it’s far from the deeply embedded enmity that exists between A&M and UTex from birth.

A Texas fan told me that Longhorns feel the same way about Oklahoma as Auburn does about Alabama.
