I don't think that he did. What he said right after Saban came to Bama was "we have a new rival in Ala bleep bama."
Or something to that effect. I often have issues with Les as a gameday coach but no one will ever question his entertainment value.

For the first few years, I thought he was the dumbest man in college football, particularly during the year of "Lesticles," when he lost to Ole Miss because of poor clock management.
But, I've changed my opinion over the past two years, or so.
First, if my son was being recruited by LSU, that speech may well have sealed the deal. The man wins and the man cares for his players as if they were his family. Despite our best efforts/intentions, sometimes life and circumstance doesn't turn out the way we planned. To humiliate a 21 yo kid because his playing ability ultimately didn't measure up to pundits' predictions is disgusting and I admire Miles for standing up for him and the rest of the team. Really, what kind of a-hole even asks that question in public?
Second, despite the at times heated rivalry between Alabama and LSU, Miles has been a class act, at least publicly (every coach says stuff to quarterback clubs to rally the base - you can't get your panties in a wad about that). His comments coming off the field in Tuscaloosa last year were the epitome of the dignified composure among coaches that was once the norm but is now rarely seen.
Third, he's humorous and the SEC is a more enjoyable place with him in it.
Only drawback is John Chavis - I hate him only because he was at Tennessee, but he was a great hire for LSU.

BTW, he's got the best record of any BCS conference coach over the nearly 8 seasons he's been here and getting close to six 10 win seasons in his first 8 years. No other coach has done that in SEC history.
