Legit question — does Jimbo’s buyout have offset language or is it fully guaranteed like (I believe) Sumlin’s was?

Fisher signed a 10-year, fully guaranteed contract extension on Sept. 1, 2021, that will pay him $95 million through 2031.

quote:

Many buyouts include offset clauses, which subtract any salary from new jobs from the buyout amount. No such clause exists in Fisher's contract.

How is his buyout 85M?

Isn’t the entire contract for 10 years for 75M and yes in what year 5/6?

His contract automatically gets renewed to 10 years each time he goes 8 & 4.

I love seeing an opposing fan base squirm

No one is squirming or making excuses at this point.

This has nothing to do with players, money, recruiting, facilities or fan base.

This is purely a coaching problem. Jimbo is done after this. Other than a DII school I don’t see how he comes back from this.

At this point we are stuck in purgatory of suckage and it’s not going to get better.

If you step back and look at it, there were no boosters or higher ups influencing this situation or the team. This was a coached dream job with full autonomy and resources at his disposal.

Jimbo proved he can still screw this up. This is 1000% all in Jimbo and no one else.

I’m sure a team of lawyers are digging though his contract trying to find a way out.

One thing that has to change in this business is that coaching contracts should be tied performance.

We all know that once Fisher is gone they are going to do the same thing with another coach because they are so desperate.

Bank on it.

I would think they could give him $50 million to walk away. He can’t want to be in this no win situation for several kore years can he!

I agree with this approach. I would offer him half of what’s left and a chance to rebuild his credibility.

If he stays and tanks with all these resources then his career is essentially finished.

Leave now as a mutual agreement, get half remaining salary, take a year or two off then go back to coaching.

Pay the recruits or pay Jimbo? Tough decision.

You don’t “offer” a $50MM paycut. You appeal to his honor and beg him to make the offer himself

A&M just needs to make his life hell. Call him in every day and chew his arse out. Take away all his privileges. Until he hires coordinators who can coach and stay out of the offense, treat him like shite.

Maybe Fisher doesn't want to coach anymore after this. Maybe he is tired of dealing with all the different personalities and headaches.
