LMFAO, so big bad Houston "stole" the oil industry from New Orleans. I would submit that the industry was not stolen, but they took advantage of a better opportunity.

ask yourself idiot, why does Houston's rise coincides with New Orleans decline?

Ask yourself dipshit, why does Atlanta's rise coincide with New Orleans decent, they were same size in the 1960's. You could ask yourself the same question about several other southern cities that grew and prospered while New Orleans fell further into poverty and violent crime.
It aint Houston's fault that the city government over in Orleans Parish had some of the worst and most corrupt leadership of any outside of Warez, Mexico. Houston just took advantage. New Orleans fricked that up for themselves and marketed the city as a tourist destination(which would be great if they had the foresight to bring any kind of real industry to the city). The tourist industry employees wage is based on tips 90% of the time. Not a very secure way to make a career if you ask me.

Nope, I'm just pointing out facts about New Orleans. If the people of New Orleans don't like those facts, they should do something about it.

"newflash"? LOL

WTFever...you're grasping at pathetic straws. If you don't like the city, don't come here and STFU. We love it. I surely stay the hell away from the ghost town of Mobile. I don't have time to point out all of the economic advantages of New Orleans to someone who thinks Mobile is nice.

they will do something about it, starting by keeping assclowns like you out of mind, NO leadership the last 30+ years has been incompetent, no doubt. you can put whatever spin you want to put on the oil industry- outbid, stole, whatever, all the same to me. it is still the major reason why NO is basically a tourist town today, besides your from Met. why the frick are you commenting about NO anyway? ya'll bitches don't consider yourself part of the city- another part of the problem.

It's a costume for his cooler more sophisticated New Orleans mardi gras. The reason it looks queer to us is because we are not as cosmopolitan as people from New Orleans. I bet you never thought you would have your grammar corrected by a guy in a purple suit with the word pimp in his name.

grammar smack is all this retard has got Rob. Notice the douche bag didn't dispute anything I said about that city across the parish line. Neither did anyone else. The best they got is New Orleans is better because of the NFL and the part time NBA team they got over there in Americas version of Tiajuana. Or their spring break version of Mardi Gras, I'm surprised they didn't bring up that New Orleans is better because of the food.

But hey, if you are happy with corruption, crime, litter, the highest auto insurance premiums of any where in the US, and a very low quality of life based on any US government study, move to New Orleans. Hell its so great over there I'm sure their must be a waiting list you have to be on to move there.

If not, move to Mobile,,, or Metairie. Both are much better options.

Oh I know...if you use logic, reason of facts in any debate with this crew you are basically wasting your time. Same thing goes for football...I have seen many posts about Auburn's team this year by LSU folks that are so biased and flat out wrong that Alabama fans have actually argued with them on Auburn's behalf. That should tell you something about their perspective.

I don't think I ever said that it was nice, but since you brought it up, the east bay certainly is. I guess nice can be subjective, if you like crime, corruption, illiteracy, unemployment, less value for your dollar, etc. etc. etc. you would think New Orleans is one of the nicest cities in America.

I would love to see any "list" of economic advantages to living in New Orleans. Hell the white dude in the black pimp suit who spawned this silly "debate" had enough of a brain to run for the north shore like every other person in New Orleans who could afford it.

I never meant this as a fight over which city is better, but anyone from New Orleans or who wants to represent New Orleans conveniently likes to leave out all these FACTS about the city. What the frick good is it if you have an NFL team and are known for Mardi Gras, when you have the poverty rate, illiteracy rate, violent crime rate, and unemployment rate, that New Orleans has?
Anyone from New Orleans who would try to talk down about Mobile as a lesser city is ignorant, and I would submit, probably never moved futher away from New Orleans in their life than when they went to college in Baton Rouge.

I have done nothing here but tell the truth.

Hey Cajun. I see you are still alive and all. Unless you have been told by the board admin to drop it, did anything ever come of you and BT4LSU?

according to you, still at it huh assclown, you too blind to see you are part of the problem of New Orleans as well, by running the city down with your eloquent comments you only keep adding fuel to the fire. NO is so messed up with the segregated bullshite down there because of idiots running it down, like you, no wonder it looks the way it is. you mentioned Atlanta, part of the reason Atlanta is as strong as it is, is because even though parts of Atlanta is incorporated into their own cities their still part of the metro Atlanta area, same thing in Houston, only in NO outside parishes like yours want to be independent of NO entirely, and do nothing but hurl insults, like you.

newsflash if your not part of the solution STFU and move to Mobile.

FYI, Bama geniuses - I corrected his spelling, not his grammar. There's a difference.

The LSU perspective comes from 2 national championships in the past 4 years. So, scoreboard bitches.

New Orleans area is better than Mobile (or any other Alabama city) in all of the following categories:
Food
Music
Ladies
Nightlife
Activities
Festivals
Culture
Tourism
Sports
Outdoor sports
Private high schools
Colleges
Economy
Architecture
Cultural Events

All you want to bring up is public schools and crime. Who gives a frick? - that doesn't effect 99% of NOLA residents.

Food

Mobile's food is almost identical, but I was wondering when you would bust out the "we got great food, we are better than you crap" Lame, but expected.

Music

If you like brass bands and jazz. Most people don't though.

Ladies

Yeah, the tourist. Now if we were talking Lafayette you might get some agreement.

Nightlife

Chalk one up for New Orleans, it is one of the few cities in the country that you can have a drink 24/7/365.

Activities

???? Other than drinking and the Saints?

Festivals

Jazz fest is awesome, beyond that, alot of them are rather lame.

Culture

That is debatable and subjective.

Tourism

Already discussed. Your entire economy is based on it and is dying because of it.

Sports

Another plus for the city. Pro sports is usually not what people base a desirable place to live on though, but you get that one by default. Congrats.

Outdoor sports

No better than Mobile.

Private high schools

Which is defacto segregation. Private schools are used a)where the rich white kids will not have to go to school with the poor blacks, and b)because the public school system in New Orleans is one of the worst in the country.

Colleges

Tulane and Loyola are good schools but the quality of undergraduate education is not even close to being worth the price of tuition.

Economy

One of the worst and poorest in the nation.

Architecture

Downtown Mobiles is almost identical.

If all of these things were true, and some are, it still does not offset the facts that New Orleans is poverty stricken and has been for years with no end in sight, the unreal violent crime rate, the illiteracy rate(which kind of makes your private school, and college argument pointless I might add)the unemployment rate, the culture of corruption in city politics(which some wear as a badge of honor) and the urban flight from this city.

New Orleans has great food and is a fun city to visit as a tourist, but there is a reason people are fleeing it as fast as they can.

If by talking about it and saying that those things are problems makes me part of the problem what does ignoring it and pretending they are not really important do. Most reasonable people are not going to over look these facts and say what the hell, lets move to New Orleans, they got great food, an NFL team, and "culture". I don't hate New Orleans, but to ignore and pretend the city doesn't have serious, serious problems, just because you can get drunk 24/7 and then eat great food is insane.
