If he is cleared medically, I read that he hasn't totally recovered from his injury last year

For 2 years insiders have said if Mathis ever got to play he was gonna make some eyes pop. I wanna see what he has.

No... that’s impossible. But... coaches have said he is one of the fastest players on the team and one of the fastest QB’s to play at UGA.

All signs point to him being cleared by week 1. He played in the first scrimmage.

The "Newman is special" crowd are NFL draft experts.
The Mathis bandwagon is headed by Jim Donnan. Donnan coached Mike Bobo and Quincey Carter for UGA in the 90s and recruited David Greene. Donnan is a media member right now, but he has obvious ties to the Smart regime as he was Kirbys head coach.

Come on plenty of UGA fans bought into Newman and fell in love immediately maybe u didnt

Kirby brought in another transfer after landing Newman which was always suspect. He may get lucky with Daniels (I think he's got very good potential and can be more than serviceable when healthy) but doing that after Newman had signed was wrong. Looks exactly like the Eason/Fromm/Fields situation all over again. I don't think it hurts UGA on the field but it may hurt future QB recruiting.
