Josh is a big fan of the Aggies, Elko, A&M head coaching position, and just generally speaking thinks A&M will be a national champion in the next few years. All of his enthusiasm is of course based on zero evidence. He is also obviously a voice others in the national media listen to so when he speaks highly of a team, others listen.
Now he also does a lot of spots with TexAgs, which are co-sponsored with Academy. His main sponsor.
Academy is a huge retailer in Houston, which is obviously in Aggies backyard.
So what I see possible here, Josh is an Aggies sunshine pumper and doesn’t believe any of the shite he spews on the Aggies, but due to his relationship with Academy, all news must be positive and the outlook bright.

Am I missing something where he thinks A&M is gonna kick arse? He is pretty realistic on things A&M from what I have seen but I don’t watch him religiously, I’m not seeing CFP predictions or anything like that.

I think he's usually pretty realistic.
He has a lot of takes that the average fan can't really comprehend, like the formulation for his power ranking.

The point is not about A&M…hence the title of the post is about Josh Pate.
The topic/question is if Josh Pate lets his sponsors motivate what he tells his audience.
I use this case with A&M as an example where I believe he does.

I find that Pate sunshine pumps for most teams, to maintain his click rate IMO. I don’t think it gets to where you question his integrity. I think he just find something positive to say about most team but he will tell the truth also if there are question mark on a team.
But where you get his true real opinion is when he is talking about college football in general.

Elko had A&M in the hunt for an SEC championship way ahead of schedule without an elite roster last year.
He was outstanding at Duke and if he looked different physically would be talked about as a potential elite coach nationally.
Who knows what happens next year with the log jam of really good teams with question marks stacked up in the SEC, but pretending like there isn’t room to think he could win big there isn’t based on anything but hubris.
