His main point is that pollsters are overly enamored with blue blood brands (Penn State & Texas). Those brands get way too much "benefit of the doubt.” And for that, pollsters should be called out.
Notre Dame being 3-2 and at #16 is a joke.
Is it? Their two losses were last second, one score games against teams currently ranked the top 5, and their win included an absolutely raping (in Fayetteville) of an Arkansas team that was a lost fumble away from beating Ole Miss - on the road.

Notre Dame is an incredibly talented, playoff caliber team
This is exactly what everyone is talking about.
Hype about teams is being considered over actual results.
If they are incredibly talented, playoff caliber, they should be winning the games against other incredibly talented playoff caliber team's.
ND has lost the only 2 games they played against other teams considered incredibly talented playoff caliber

This is why I don't trust people when they say "We're going to take into consideration strength of schedule" when it comes to SEC teams. I know these polls aren't the CFP polls but you can guarantee the same problems you see in these polls will be in the CFP polls, because you've got humans with biases running it. Pate is just wasting his breath and some of the stupid $hit he is saying I don't agree with. He's become a bag of hot air.

I don't mind Pate. Don't always agree, but who does with anyone?
I did learn something, as I always thought Power Rankings were the assessment of resume and momentum through games played.
I thought the AP poll was an assessment of games played and a projection of where teams would finish based on future schedules and team dynamics.
Thanks for sharing. My learn at least one new thing a day chore is complete.

Does it matter how they lost those games?
Does it matter that they absolutely demolished a team (on the road) that Ole Miss probably should have lost to (at home)?

He’s not wrong but I wish he had called out the coaches poll too. It’s even worse. Not sure why he singled out the AP voters here
While sometimes treated as "equals", the AP poll still gets more attention than the Coaches Poll.

Because we all know two things about the Coach's Poll:
- there is inherent bias in voting to promote your team or boost your conference
- Coaches don't watch other teams unless they are on their schedule, and the actual HC generally doesn't even vote.
It is the biggest of garbage polls.

No one takes the Graduate Assistant poll (also known as the "Coachs" poll) seriously.
And this is how National Champions were chosen for over a century.

It does matter, but it's absurd to give more weight to how well they lose than the fact that they lost.
The facts you state are worthy of considering not dropping from top 25.
But not justifying them in the teens

Notre Dame being 3-2 and at #16 is a joke.
If not then why is every undefeated team not ranked 1-XX?

It’s a crime the douche bags that vote get to have control over a programs prestige
Or over the game itself.
There have always been teams deserving to get to the highest level but bigger name program of equal (and sometimes lesser) record got the benefit of the doubt instead.
We need to shitcan these polls.

There's easily 15 teams and more better than ND at this point.

Because 5 wins vs turds is greater than 3 turd wins and 2 losses against good teams

ND's biggest win was over an unranked Boise State.

They generate buzz and watches in the early season. As Pate said, it makes things fun and gives people something to talk about.
But, since the CFP poll began, they are irrelevant. AP poll was made irrelevant under the BCS.
Also, it is still the first week of OCT with 2 mos of conference play ahead. Things will shake out.
