Manziel, Newton, Burrow...those guys could literally carry a team.

No, no... Let's not dilute the subject. Johnny was different. Johnny was must-see football. I could go get a beer or make a sandwich when Newton or Burrow were playing - it's not like they were going to pull off some kind of bizarre-arse Johnny play. I was frozen in my seat when Johnny was on the field. You never knew what was coming, and you damn sure didn't want to miss it.

To lesser degree, I was the same way with Ricky Williams of Texas. You never knew when he would break one, but you knew he would.

But Johnny was ONE of a kind.

Either look at the 21-22 UGA schedules or post less. We opened with Clemson (2021) and Oregon (2022). Baby soft eh?

Also, hot take, but Burrow didn't carry his team nearly as much as those stud receivers did. Cam Newton & Johnny Football were a different tier.

say it right now, if Manziel was playing for A&M during the post-COVID years, he would have won the SEC several times. The SEC has changed so much since the BCS in the fact that teams are much less defensively driven now. It was a much different game in 2010-2014 than it is now

Why does LSU fan have to make everything about them all the time? The small peen attitude is equal parts funny and annoying.
The better question is why are Ags still clinging to glory days of winning...nothing of significance with a cokehead at QB?

Comparisons to Cam and Joe Burrow are hilarious. You're comparing a dude who led A&M to zero championships, not even divisional, to guys who led their respective teams to National Championships.
What a joke.

Manziel had talent but wasn’t that good. The team around him was outstanding. His offensive line all became pros and he has a future NFL hall of famer catching those wounded ducks Manziel would just throw up into the air. He was waaaay overrated.

It usually took those kind of throws working out or some crazy weird bounce off a helmet to beat those Saban teams. See also: Ole Miss

Not really.
2-0 against him
Allowed 1TD and picked him off 5 times.

Piece of cake

This is what I will always think of Manzel: pre-season his 3rd year, he was all caught up in selling his autographed pictures. Which he denied & denied & denied. He subsequently admitted he had. Had he been caught, he would have been suspended a few games if not more. The aggies would have predictably lost those games. Costing that senior class a possible chance at the NCG. He was going to sell out his teammates for what was claimed at the time $10K.Sorry, I don't separate his greedy, POS character from his football talents.

Well, count me as a rival, not a hater. But evidently some posters on here don't get it. Too bad, it is entirely their loss.

This is the essence of aggie. The 'wrecking crew' never did anything that matters except get put on probation, but aggies act like they won a bunch of national titles. Johnny peaked when he barely beat Duke in the chicken bowl.

This is all a&m has....this is it.

Wow! Surely LSU won some championships during that two year stretch.

Oh wait...

They’re the 3 best QBs in the SEC in the 21st century I’d say.

Burrow was clearly the best pro style QB. He looked like Prime Tom Brady at times in 2019.

Newton carried a team that probably would’ve gone 8-4 to a national title. Manziel was a ball of lightning. But manziel also had 3 all All American linemen and a HOF NFL receiver. He wasn’t playing with nobodies.

Exactly. Which is great but not necessarily edge-of-your-seat type stuff.

Cam Newton, Vince Young, same thing. Again, great - and a little bit closer to the "must-see TV" category. But still not quite to the level of

Manziel was a ball of lightning

Precisely. Lightning. That's the level above the others. NFL material? Who cares. There's a reason I'll give up my Saturdays for football, but not my Sundays. The Sunday stuff is BORING. Maybe they are too good - who knows.

I'm sorry if you missed Manziel while watching Joe Burrow play textbook midwest football.

Jonathan Eightball played with 3 NFL first round Offensive Lineman and a 6'5 receiver that is most likely going into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Has nothing to do with the points made above about Manziel.

By the way, Bama hasn't won a real title in the past five-year stretch.
