Obviously, I don't know if Mateer was really sports gambling or not. But to think this is a non-issue is wrong. There could be implications from the NCAA and law enforecement. Now I'm not saying this guy should be punished, but look at the history on this.
Kayshon Boutte was charged in Louisiana for illegal gambling in 2024. He made the bets using a fake a name and was under 21 in 2022 and 2023. He was on the Patriots roster by the time he was arrested.

If the Venmo account screencap was bogus, Mateer would have said so last night or this morning. That there is a delay, and Mateer & OU are scheming behind the scenes on the best way to deal with this, should scare the hell out of you. The validity of the X account that originally tweeted the info doesn't make it legit or bogus.
