nah, we will just replace Steele.

Les will remain. I don't think y'all will pay Chavis and Sumlin what your paying them for no championships

So the school matters? Not the coach? Can we just sticky this thread to the top of the board and rename it "Chavis Butthurt"? We don't even need to call if, " Swamp Kitten Butthurt Over Chavis" even if that's more accurate. The ambiguous title might make y'all think it isn't about y'all. One way or the other it's going to cut down on the clutter this seasons.

what the frick are you even trying to say?

yeah schools matter more than coaches

thats why LSU will survive and field a better defense, and A&M will still have pussies playing pussy defense.

and chavis is fat and bad on third downs and end of games

A&M has never had a good defense, ever. Thus we will continue to suck. History is the only thing that matters.

Agreed but Sumlin doesn't have a skin on the wall to plead his case. Les won a shite load of games including a NC without Chavis.

A&M doesn't have good defensive players.

they won't all of a sudden be good because Chavis is there

LSU has good players, had them before Chavis is here, and guess what... they are still fricking here.

Not sure if we will, but if we want them, they will come.

Chavis and Haley were best friends and it's one of the reasons Chief was getting angry with LSU. Miles wanted Haley gone but Chief wouldn't let Miles fired him.

Brick was a solid recruiter, but often got project 4-star players that mid-tier P5 schools were going after instead of the big-name recruits. He's also failed to develop the talent at hand and the technique he taught wasn't that good. He's one of the huge reasons that turnovers and sacks have gone down.

The Texas A&M fans don't understand why we are okay with Chavis leaving and why we laugh at the Aggies who have to boast him constantly promote him to try to put LSU fans down. We've seen his defenses since 2009 and beside the 2011 squad, the rest have been above average at best. Even the 2011 defense wasn't the best in the nation, considering. Most of the success Chief found here was from the 2009 recruiting class that wasn't even put together by him. Since 2011 his defense has regressed no matter what the stats say. We LSU fans have grown tired of seeing the same scheme trotted onto the field and abused by the usual suspects (Alabama, Auburn, etc)

When rumors came out that Chavis was leaving for A&M, our defense was in the midst of getting pounded by Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl and it infuriated us that he had probably made his mind already and was blowing the game with little to no effort applied. It didn't help that earlier in the season he promoted DJ Welter at every practice and he was the worst MLB that LSU has had in the past decade. Coupling that with the fact that he didn't even say goodbye to his players or even inform them that he was leaving taints everything. Chief burnt bridges at LSU and it's silly to think that LSU fans only started to dislike him when he left.

He had an affinity for shutting down only one team, and that was A&M. That's why Sumlin hired Chavis. To Sumlin, the way to get over the hump is to beat LSU and the way to beat them is to steal their coach. Unfortunately for Sumlin, he'll figure out that Chavis' defenses rely on elite athletes rather than elaborate schemes, something that LSU has had since the start of this century.

With Steele and Orgeron we get a fresh update to our defense instead of the same Chavis scheme. Steele is a multiple defensive coach who focuses on forcing turnovers with immense pressure and Orgeron is a world-class defensive line coach and recruiter.

Coupling them win Corey Raymond and we'll have elite defenses considering the talent we have.

The Aggies hired Chavis and Chavis alone to fit into their defensive staff. The DL coach and DB coach are still the ones who were there before. The only difference they made was scheme and LB coaching. It's well known that Chief isn't a big recruiter and that he spends most of his time coaching his LBs and scheming.

Both schools upgraded from what they had.
LSU may have declined in scheming (yet to be seen) but has upgraded its LB coaching, DL coaching, and its recruiting big time.

A&M upgraded their scheming and LB coaching and they got a household name at DC which should attract some recruits.

Why can't we all agree on that?

This is why Steele will fail. LSU fans are delusional. The 2014 defense (tops in the SEC) was above average at best?

I have a realative that was a 2 time AA LB at A&M. I know just how good that defense use to be.

I don't think Chavis's lax defense is going to blend well with an offense that doesn't control the TOP. You can make the argument about LSU's offense not moving the ball, but other than AU our drives usually ate up alreast 5 minutes of clock. Usually closer to 7 or 8. Other thing is players like Christian Kirk woulf be at DB at LSU. WR's like that tend to grow on trees in LA. It just seems like the focus on offense is too heavily driven to get the players for his defense.

Reed
OBJ
Speedy
Landry
Diarse
Quinn
Wright
Fobbs
Charlot
Davis
Dillion

That's just the last few years.

Do I? Imagine Kirk as an athlete in LA instead of Az. He'd play both offense and defense. It's a much higher demand for that talent. He'd be going up against elite DB's and WR's weekly. Now he could prove himself like OBJ did, but he'd be listed as an athlete for most. It's how not just the systems where they come from play a role, but their versatility.

Obj was originally recruit primarily as a DB by almost everyone.

That's why Steele will fail? Okay. You're delusional.

Yes, the 2014 defense was very average. Take away the A&M and Ole Miss games (both teams without running attacks) and it was a shitshow. Yeah, the defense shut out nobody teams, but against any team with a good running back we got fricked sideways. Once again, DBU showed itself last year and we were better than anyone in the SEC at stopping the pass.

Remember last year in the game against us when A&M actually tried to run? You scored first. A&M ripped a 40 yard touchdown run against us and then they completely abandoned the running game. Your offense doesn't work against elite DBs. Now that we have a DC and DL coach that are known to stop the run first, coupled with DBU, I don't see how we can fail.

I can only imagine what it would've been like if he played as a CB in college. He would've probably given up football for soccer.
