But he said that arguing betweeen USC/Alabama/Ohio State is arguing between three bad resumes, and if we expand the playoff to 8 teams we're just going to invite more comparisons of even worse resumes from a higher multitude of teams. It will become impossible to determine which 2 or three loss team is the best, which Group of 5 school is deserving or not.
Exactly. And that’s why you take the human element completely out of the playoff selection.
Go to 6 big conferences. And to get into the playoff you ahead to win your conference. 6 teams get in, top 2 seeds get a bye. That’s it. No excuses. Win your conference or you are out.
In reality, it is a 12 team playoff with the conference championships being basically the unofficial first round.
This would completely remove the eye test and make teams actually earn their way in.

No way of knowing how FSU's season would've played out with Francois in.. obviously I'd go with them winning a few more games lol. But doesn't mean they'd be top 5 or anything.. we'll never know

Bama can also dick ride Oklahoma, too. There are choices with Ohio State's big losses.
Ohio State fans just can't wrap their heads around the fact that tOSU just isn't as good as this Bama team. Close, though.

You can only pick one. Without both, all the begging in the world wouldn't get Saban in.

If the eight were the five conference champs and three at large teams it would kind of alleviate that problem. Only need three picks from the committee.

I take it your scarlet and gray glasses do not allow you to see Urban's TV appearances Saturday night to be construed as "begging".
LOL.

Back to BCS!
Back to conference tie-ins so we can argue who's the best team for years. It was a time honored tradition before all the BCS/playoff nonsense.

You lost to a team that lost to Troy. Enough said.....

He's basically right. Neither Bama, OSU or USC had a legit gripe if they got left out. That said, Bama--unlike OSU or USC didn't have a bad resume. 11-1 with a competitive loss on the road to a top 5 team. Bama never got their doors blown off like OSU and USC did, and they also didn't lose multiple games. At the end of the day, it wasn't a hard call. Top 4 teams in, job well done by the committee.
