Certainly wasn't good enough, holy shite their best wins were Mississippi State(which UGA and Auburn both ASSRAPED) and LSU which lost to Troy AT HOME, the only high-caliber matchup they faced the whole season they got MAULED by 2 scores and aren't even state champs. the 2017 Alabama resume is simply meh or whatevs, nothing remarkable. Certainly nothing that argues "ONE OF THE 4 BEST TEAMS IN THE NATION."

Ten days or so ago he went off on a rant when A&M was pursuing Jimbo (who do they think they are?), and for him Tennessee was clearly the better job and there was no way Jimbo Fisher was going to A&M. Then the Schiano fiasco happened followed by... what? 4 other rejections including just-fired Kevin Sumlin? And then the Jimbo hire became a real thing. To his credit, he admitted he was mistaken when called on it by Texags' Olin Buchanan on Twitter.
He's a clown, but can at least admit when he was wrong.

He is an idiot. Same thing happened last year, in OSU's favor we all know. 1 loss OSU who didn't even play in its conference championship got into the playoff over 2 loss big 10 champ penn state. Why? Same reasons Alabama got in this year. That said, I hope we fair better against Clemson than OSU

Counting 6-6 Florida St as a top 3 OOC team
Closest team to Bama's #47 SOS in the top-10 would be Wisconsin at #57. Play-off teams average SOS (minus Bama): #15

It's the same thing with college basketball: whatever is the criteria for teams being eligible to play for championships, the ADs and head coaches will massage and manage schedules in order to best position their teams to be part of the discussion. It's this nature that's the reason why we have a playoff these days anyways.
So when it's an 8-team playoff, it'll only be a matter of time before each season the arguments are that 9-10-12 teams belong in it. It'll become a 64-team college FB play-off that concludes on the Saturday before Super Bowl Sunday......

So why don't the rest of your teams field a team worth a flip? It isn't Bama's fault that FSU decided to completely, mysteriously tank this year. It wasn't Bama's fault that 7SU decided to go hire a doofus and become a borderline top 25 team. It's not Bama's fault that Ole Miss, utk, and Arkansas all suck now.
