The coach we fired for losing games beat a&m after we fired him. You can spend all day and night playing with irrelevant statistics and you can't change that very sad fact.

That game mattered so much that LSU was willing to pay him more than Brian Kelly.

*according to Billy Liucci.

The guy who claims that "this is finally Aggie's year" every single year.

Now check the record for Saban, Miles and Orgeron before they came to LSU and you'll realize why it's a better football school than A&M.

You're telling me that LSU is a better program than Michigan St, Oklahoma St, and Ole Miss? What a shocking revelation.

How much better though? Especially going 4-8 with a top 10 roster against an easier schedule.

I'd probably be a little more worried about that if he hadn't addressed all the problems and came back better.

I'm telling the op that coaches who win 30-60% of their games elsewhere can win national titles at LSU, so don't worry too much what they did before they got to BR. Brian Kelley is not Nick Saban, but he's far, far more qualified than Miles and Orgeron were when they took the job.

The fact that he had ND in the playoff hunt 4/5 previous seasons is a very good sign. They were living off their name alone and wouldn't give him resources he asked for repeatedly and had high academic standards which limited who he could go after. Now, he has unlimited resources and can sign anyone that can print their name. We'll see how it turns out, but I'd bet a lot of $ that his first 4 years at LSU will produce a better record than Jimbo at A&M in his first 4. I'll bet he wins the SEC in his first 4 as well.

If he does what Jimbo has done, he'll be gone.

And yet the record against final top 10 teams stayed the same despite top 10 talent.

Sounds like any big time football school.

Having the #10 or #11 most talent is much different than top 5.

Not when you're playing a team that's not even top 25 in talent and you still get booty blasted multiple times.

I'm trying to think of a program that has hired an average to bad coach like Miles and Orgeron and then won a title.

Not coming up with much.
