UGA has a very solid claim to ‘42. Every poll BUT the AP has UGA.
AP poll didn’t rank after the bowls then. UGA beat #13 UCLA in Rose Bowl, while Ohio State stayed home.
UGA was #2 going into the postseason with better wins than Ohio State in the home stretch, including vs. then #2 Ga Tech (finished #5).
Oh, and UGA’s HB, Frank Sinkwich, won the Heisman.

Michigan won the National Championship (easily), beat alabama, won the Big Ten Championship, and beat Ohio Stat without Connor Stallions on the sideline.
