Announcing a lawsuit if settlement isn't reached is a legitimate and perfectly legal PR move. Blackmail involves criminal activity.

Man, real dumb y'all bees. How much market shared does Kmarks sti.haves in Knoxville.

I thought they put arbitration in most these contracts.

I’m saying exactly what I said. Dooley had a staff position in the NFL immediately after being fired. Pruitt did not

Dooley made 1.8 million a year at tenner and got a 5 million buyout

what was Pruitt's salary at UT? 4 million per?

Pruitt has plenty of cash to Tide (pun) him over until he goes fulltime again

This is fantastic. Tenn’s cockiness about being able to avoid his buyout deserves a legal beat down.

Conservatively he’s probably grossed $15m in salary, just from college gigs.

I'd guess 18 to 20 mill

ETA: scratch that, closer to what you said

I'm no legal expert, but would this be considered extortion or no?

Per lsufball19 (who is a legal expert):
quote:

Pruitt's lawyer is basically saying, "I know my client did commit NCAA violations, and we know his contract states he can be fired for committing NCAA violations, but UT committed them too so they should still pay him or we'll expose everything we have." That's unethical for an attorney to do, and stupid to do publicly. Not only is he basically admitting a prospective wrongful termination lawsuit would be frivolous, but he's showing that his client is trying to blackmail UT for pecuniary advantage. Sure, Pruitt may make UT look bad, but he doesn't come out ahead with this strategy and neither does his lawyer who, I assume, is working on a contingency fee.

I want to know what settlement he was offered. If it was less than 75% of his buyout Tenn’s deserves this.

If Pruitt goes ahead he’s done. Suing your employer has a tendency to narrow your future employment options.

Attorneys have been disbarred and/or charged with extortion for threatening to go public with defaming information if financial demands are not met. Pruitt and his attorney are walking a fine line right now. This is not a perfectly normal PR move

here's an article with a few examples

Nuking Fat Phil and the Vols will always look good on the resumé in Tuscaloosa.

Another L this year and he'd be elected mayor if he replaced Golding.
