You've done nothing but defend Rocco's since you started posting in this thread to the point of making assumptions about McAfee based on nothing. As if no one else would be put off by someone saying their checks would bounce to their face.

Those guys seem to be assholes. An Lsu fan, I believe in 23 or maybe last year, was treated like shite. He posted his story on TD. It seems he was telling the truth. frick that place.

McAfee should have played the “Do you know who I am?” card.

This will probably be the jump the shark moment for this place. I bet what was once considered frat boy cool by visiting fanbases is hitting the "Isn't that kinda lame?" moment in the public consciousness. Once you lose the cool factor it's tough to get it back.

Banks usually require notice for deposits of checks over a certain size. This sounds like McAfee being a dumb guy.

Yeah, because the owner of Rocco's knew the LSU booster who wrote the check. He's a billionaire. If the guy didn't know who McAfee was, he's not just going to take a check from a total stranger to him. If I walked in there and said I'd like to write a $20,000 check for some shots, I'd expect the same response from the guy. This seems like a "do you have any idea who I am" deal. And it also sounds like, once they figured out who he was and that he was definitely good for it, they let him write a check.

You just conveyed why the whole concept needs to be shite upon.

If you want to have a contest then don't accept checks from anyone and let the fans vote one person at a time. In fact you want to be legit state that you have a $1,000 max as a single person.

We of course know those money grubbing whores will never do that though.

Just curious.

Is the shot count actually the number that are physically consumed at the bar?

Or is it the amount donated?

The count on the board is the amount of shots

It’s also lame that Alabama doesn’t have someone that could at least stroke a check to get them to 1000.

Sorry, I should have phrased that better.

So is the shot count the number of shots that are actually consumed at the bar or what were paid for/donation?

If LSU pounded 68000+ shots at the bar, that's impressive.

McAfee plays the "Don't you know who I am?" card to a bar manager with about 500 yelling fans inside.

Most bars won't take a check. They took a check several years ago from someone they knew. It's likely the bar guy didn't know McAfee from any other loud drinking people in the bar.

If someone thinks the bar's contest is stupid -- don't go there. Just because these guys found a way to make some money doesn't make them the bad guys here.

Yeah, McAfee is just pissed because they didn't recognize him.

He probably walked in there flexing in a WV tank top and bandana.

For the record, regarding Todd Graves, Roccos was very skeptical when he initially tried to purchase 6,000 shots. It was quite the conundrum.

He also paid via Amex, not check.

Again - this is a massive fumble on their behalf. He was willing to spend over $100k on shots and as a business you had to know he was going to show up.

I don’t disagree that his pride was hurt but I also have to blame the establishment for not making sure everyone knew who he is. It honestly sounds like they’re butthurt he didn’t give them a heads up so they could promote him being there.

Common for Roccos, but in fairness to them, a lot of overserved patrons at the CWS claim to be big dogs.

IIRC, Graves went the night prior to setup his 6k shot purchase for the next day and they gave him a ton of pushback until he just told them to run his Amex after going round and round for awhile.

But McAfee is also a much more visible public figure than Graves.

It just sounds like a poorly ran establishment and based on the responses on social media - it seems like many are happy that it’s finally being exposed.

When the shots were made in house and it was about how many fans showed up in Omaha for each team, it was cool. But as said earlier in this thread, it feels like this thing has run its course.

Also props to McAfee for exposing that even though they donate 35% to food kitchens, they’re still turning a huge profit. If that’s the case you have to treat the customers better.
