This is not a flame, I am sincerely asking. Does anyone think Clowney is overrated?

He's never led the SEC in a single statistic. He finished behind Jarvis Jones in sacks two years in a row.

I don't think I've seen Jarvis Jones name on the rant 1/100th of the times I've seen jadeveon though?

Obviously jadeveon is a physical specimen, but he's lazy, sloppy and takes series off.

So why do we elevate him to superhuman status?

A great player and talent for sure. Overrated based on production.

I mean he is a great player but I don't think he will be in Heisman contention at the end of the year

We have a thread right now asking about a 1v1 matchup between him and bo Jackson? That's a living legend versus a two time TEAM sacks leader

He's only overrated because the media and everyone else is making him out to be some sort of (you said it) superhuman. He's very, VERY good. Possibly the best player in the nation

No, because Mark Richt said that Clowney was the best football player at any level.

So there.

How is "possibly" the best player in the nation overrated?

Not overrated from a talent perspective, but from a production perspective. If he gave everything he had on every down, he might be the greatest college defensive player I have ever seen.

So potential is all that matters now? Is production not what matters?

I'm sorry he hurt one of your OL by running his arse over and sacking your QB.

Because he's being hyped so far, it's as if people are beginning to think he can't be stopped or blocked or whatever. That he's on a level by himself, and no one is even close to being able to stop him. That's untrue. People are still passing against South Carolina, people are still running.

Why is the SEC acting as if this is new? As if anyone has been unstoppable and can't be stopped or scored on or blocked or tackled.

Derrick Thomas is the only player I know of who couldn't be stopped.

When he's tired, he's not half the player he is when he is fresh. Your best bet to stop him is to sustain long drives and keep moving the chains. I remember he looked absolutely gassed at the end of the Vanderbilt game last year. 95% of the people touting him as the greatest player probably only saw the Michigan hit.
