re: I’ve mentally accepted Lanning might go but seems like tide fans are split 50/50 on him.

I hope they go a different direction, because I'd prefer to face Bama with almost anyone else they might be able to hire. Lanning is young, is a great recruiter and has shown in 2 seasons at Oregon that he can run a program.

I hope Bama thinks he's too inexperienced and hire someone else.

He is a good coach. But 2 and 3 lose seasons won’t fly at Bama.

2 losses have you in the playoffs now.

With Texas and OU in the SEC realistically some championship level teams will have 2-3 losses moving forward.

How would you compare Lanning to Schumann based on their time in Athens?

The managing editor for the Alabama branch of Rivals.com is reporting that Lanning is in Tuscaloosa.

Are ducks one of your targets as a bird hunter? Lanning should continue to be a duckling. I wouldn't be worried about him leaving Oregon.

Name a LSU fan that exclusively posts here with zero posts on the Tiger Rant besides WillyT

There are more alters of other teams than LSU fans on the Tiger Rant.

But, you know Saban is not leaving the keys to the kingdom to a loser. If it's Lanning then Saban knows he will be great.

Saban doesn’t have a crystal ball

Feel free to google who Saban suggested LSU hire as he left for the dolphins

Lanning is who I want but it sounds like his children will keep him at Oregon for a while. I'd be happy with DeBoer though...well as happy as I can be with losing Saban. Any top tier hire is going to feel like a consolation prize to a lot of the fan base.

Recruiting and NIL stay mostly in tact.

The NIL situation at Bama with the 15 year Learfield contract was not to Saban's liking.

It will also pose challenges for the new head coach.

I think Lanning has the potential to be really good. Could coach at Alabama for decades if it all works out right due to how young he is.

Coached under Saban and Kirby.

Being a grad assistant for one year is not really “coaching under” Saban
