Second prize was THREE weeks in the Palmetto State.

Actually son went to USC before going to Annapolis. I visited him a couple of times and was surprised how "east coast" the school is... lots of Yankees from N.E. to New Jersey and down east who couldn't get into North Carolina. Lots of purple hair, NE accents, etc. The natives all went home just about every weekend... which they can do because no where in the State is more than about 1 hour from USC.

AS I said, USC was interesting place with surprising east-coast type culture. Now Clemson... another story... think creepy little gnomes staring and clawing at you while saying things like "vee are strong agin... you hear me heh heh vee are strong akin...." Weirdest place ... just driving through it is weird.

It's not just Nick, Bama will be Bama after Nick is gone. While maybe not 5 in 9 good but we'll win championships as long as collegiate football is a sport. It's the culture.

I've been all around the South, and Columbia, SC is one of the most Southern cities in this country.

South carolina is the Ole Miss of the east. Big party/greek life school. Not really known for much else

I have literally never heard of South Carolina as a party school until your post.

Columbia..yeah. USC...no.

There is a difference in the culture of the deep south universities and the east coast Univs frequented by Yankee east-coast hippie tattooed slouchers and the mid-Atlantic pink bow tie, spats-wearing, horse country dudes. These immigrants want to go to a real university but don't want to be tainted by the deep south...

Their southern migration used to end at Virginia and then North Carolina. The disease has crept south to USC. Florida and Georgia are feeling the effects too.

Garcia is not a reflection of our entire student body. Do we like to have a good time? Sure. Who doesn't in college?

Isn’t Bama like 60% out of state now?

One of your own the other day was crying too many Yankee.

I agree the north has definitely made its mark on USC but majority of our students are still in state

Has the university changed that much in the decade since I left? My fraternity was probably 80% kids from SC. The rest were from GA, NC and TX.

By the tone of this thread, looks like it's pretty yankish now, which is a good thing.
