It’s time to have a conversation about Kirby without Monken

Kirby hasn’t won a playoff game since Monken left.

Kirby hasn’t sniffed the national title game since he left.

The only time Kirby won national titles - he had Monken as his OC.

He also had a 27 year old man playing QB.

Its always been about coaching.

These coaches are treating these guys like grown men instead of college kids.

Why do you think Indianas coach is so good?

He doesnt give a frick he demands excellence every week. Indiana has no business being this hard to beat.

They should have won but the receiver forgot about his feet.

Grubb pisses me off. I bet that loser doesnt even talk to the players all week.

Great coaches are only great when they have superior talent to everyone else. NIL will expose teams that cheated their way to the top, and expose coaches that used booster $$ to enhance their resume. Saban saw the writing on the wall...

I’d argue Saban fell off when his coordinators fell off. He couldn’t maintain the same analyst pipeline.

I also think he was pissed that the SEC told him no on hiring Pruitt in 2023 and instead he had to settle for Steele.

How many teams would trade their coach for Kirby right now, with or without Monken?

I think Monken was a bigger part of those two championships than Georgia fans want to admit. Kirby is still a hell of a coach, but that offense hasn't been nearly as good since Monken left.

We saw the same thing with Saban when he had weaker coordinators. Doesn't mean the head coach suddenly forgot how to coach, but the guys calling the plays matter quite a bit.

Apparently the same age as Stetson Bennett when he lead Georgia to their titles.

UGA with Kirby sans Monken is much better than Bama sans Saban.

Alabama sans Saban has a playoff win

Kirby doesn’t since Monken left.

Kirby has two straight SEC championships, including beating Sabanless Bama.

Neat.

Playoff wins matter more than conference title wins in this new age of college football.

Must look good in your trophy case.

A trophy case full of SEC titles will mean nothing after this year because the game won’t exist.

The sport evolves and Kirby hasn’t adapted. Winning in Atlanta stopped mattering once the playoff went to 12.

Nick was a hard man to deal with. Hard to coach for. Hard to play for. I'd say harder to coach for.

He had a slew of Defensive Coordinators that worked. I'd say Smart was the best. But Pruitt was also very good.

On offense ? Look, the man got drunk and got caught on film trying to screw a shark. But nobody ran that offense like Jim McElwain.

Part of the problem with Saban was that he's just a lot ... A frickING LOT ... to take.

He demanded excellence. He didn't take dumb shite off his coaches.

I'll take that every day

Yet it was not sustainable to coach with the guy. That's just a fact.

Nick was a load to deal with. Pure and simple. He ended up dealing with a guy like Lane Kiffin precisely because two years on the staff with Nick Saban was about the norm.
