Touche! And I could never keep up with you in that arena. Not a counselor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I do think college is a place for amateur athletics and sad to see it where it is today. I know I am in the minority, which is fine, but I am not very interested in professional sports. Once it becomes primarily about money, sports aren't as fun for me. I have always thought that colleges and not baseball should have an exemption but the NCAA through it's own greed has managed their model poorly. It is the type of people they have running it as with anything.

They clearly don't have the student-athletes, students, or alumni in mind the way they operate.

Justice Kavanaugh said specifically, "The NVCAA business model would be flatly illegal in almost any other industry in America."

I love how no one has pointed out the irony of the Supreme Court telling someone else that their model is the exception, when the Supreme Court has no equal. They are basically running the country now from the bench. A bunch of fricking lawyers who have never been elected to anything.

Have you ever had a civics class?
From reading your posts, you have a distinct misunderstanding of the role of the Supreme Court, and how and why it will take or not take a case.

You have a 2-1 majority of constructionists agreeing 9-0 with some of the most liberal justices to see the bench. Notice how there was no dissenting opinion?

Yes. I guess in your mind that qualifies me as someone who knows how the government works. Nevermind my time spent working on Capitol Hill.

Correct. I have no understand of how or why they decide to hear or not hear some cases, as they don't give reason most of the time, so unless you are the amazing Kreskin, neither do you.

Well you have 9 people with huge legal egos about to have their power reduced by half when they start packing the court unless they hand down decisions appeasing the left and I think I can add 1+1. Did you take math too or just civics?

FWIW, I am not really commenting on the ruling, just on the shitty nature of the court in general and how politicized it has become. It amazes me how they appoint one conservative after another and they turn left or at the very least moderate, yet none of the liberal justices ever turn right or even centrist after appointment. I wonder why that is? JK, I really don't wonder.

There is no way in hell three quarters of the college football teams in America can survive unless they can get players to play for free - and even then they can't be competitive with anything above a high school team. Every player than can find a place to get paid will.

FCS, Div II & III - small team college football really is dead. Fans will lose interest when they can't field competitive teams and kids won't play for them because they won't get paid.

Then take it up with your AD. If you can't run with the Big Dogs then stay on the porch and bark.

If I still cared about football I might, but the same three teams win every year so I don’t care anymore. Lots of fans feel the same way, attendance has been declining nationwide every year, even before covid.

Take a look at the bright side. No more transfer portal. Kid signs a three year contract, he's bound for three years.
