This would make a lot of sense.. but idk if it should happen..

8 SEC games vs 9 SEC games

It's funny how no one cares when rivalries end unless it involves their school.
Several of the old Big 8/SWC/Big 12 rivalries were great. You might be too young to remember OU vs. Nebraska. Bedlam seemed to always be entertaining. I understand the animosity which led to the game not continuing after A&M joined the SEC, but as a CFB fan, I'm glad A&M/TX is back. Mizzou and Kansas actually fricking hate each other.
Mississippi State has played LSU and Alabama a total of 218 times and the schedule changes ended both of those games.
Arizona and Arizona State have played each other since before Arizona was a state.
Honestly, this is a take I wouldn't have expected from a Florida fan.

This might be the worst rivalry name of all time. I didn't even know it was a thing

Not sure how its false. Id love to be proven wrong. I want to win a national championship, but if I only cared about churning through a schedule to win a title, then I'd watch professional sports. What makes college sports so fun are the rivalries and traditions. I've forced myself to get onboard with NIL and the transfer portal but if they start taking away the rivalry games that have been played for 100 years, then I'll draw the line. I know i'm probably in the minority with this stance but oh well.

Could annual rivalries like Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia be in danger of ending? With the SEC seemingly unwilling to commit to adding a ninth conference football game until it has clarity about upcoming changes to the College Football Playoff, doomsday might be arriving soon for some of the league’s most storied rivalries. Among them: Alabama and Tennessee’s Third Saturday in October game. Speaking to reporters at SEC spring meetings, league commissioner Greg Sankey was asked whether the league could protect two rivalries per team. #alabama #collegefootball #alabamafootball #rolltide #rtr #Auburn

That's clickbait.
There is no difficulty in keeping 2 or 3 permanent games and rotating the rest. The idea that you must play every team in the conference every few years on this perfect rotation at the expense of rivalry games is just weird.
Never in the history of the SEC has there been that need, and I'm not sure why some people feel the sudden need now. We've only had divisions since 1992, before then we..had permanent games and rotated the rest. At the end of the day, I think it's just clickbait to get people talking about something because it can't be a serious discussion.

Did Sankey spend any time explaining to the University presidents how much more TV money ESPN was willing to pay the SEC for that extra game?
MONEY/GREED is going to ruin college football.

OU vs Nebraska was clearly the top rivalry game in the nation for a long time.

You just witnessed lesser conferences put lesser teams into the 12-team playoff over more deserving SEC teams ranked higher. That was an almost total disdain for SOS. How is eating our own to the tune of 9 conference games going to help the playoff cause?
Well, at least one other person on here gets it!

Is anyone saying. "Oh no! The SEC schedule isn't hard enough!"?
No. 9-3 SC beat the EZZ Champ last year at their place. Maybe if you're in that league they should think about 9 games. Our league, not so much.

Sc beat the EZZ champ 2 weeks before Clempson was put into the playoffs in front of them.

The rant gets it, they are just willing to settle for inclusion being the new theme of the 12-team Playoff. Arizona State and Iowa State were well behind ALABAMA and Ole Miss in the polls, but went ahead of both because they battled it out in a CCG. It seems when a #18 team plays a #16 team, they suddenly sprout wings and fly over the 12th, 11th, and 10th best teams in the country.
The BCS and 4-team Playoff made no allowance for these DEI setups. How Sankey and Petitti let themselves get cornered and fleeced is how this stupidity went on.
Having to stop the byes automatically going to CCG winners this year shows just how far our Commissioners got played and how embarrassing it was to watch the expanded playoffs play out in real time.

Why would OU care about Stupid Station or Failetteville? Seems Texass would be their only concern.
