Over the last 10 years, the following opponents have cancelled.

Florida State 2005-2006
Michigan State 2009-2010
USC 2014-2015

Bill Byrne was notorious for trying to schedule nonconference opponents that would not be televised to try to force attendance.

You have no interest in playing auburn, alabama, Texas A&M and the rest of the west?

If a fifth year senior isn't going to play every opponent in his own conference over the course of his time in school, the schedule format is broken.

To be honest, I have no interest in playing Texas A&M, Ole Miss, MSU, Vandy, Kentucky, or Missouri.

meh, if we were to win the East, chances are we will be playing one of those teams anyway, plus still playing LSU. We take care of business and we will get to play the best. That's how I see it.

SEC should make a deal with the ACC. The major rivals( UF-FSU, USC-CLEM, UGA-GT, UK-UL) play each other every year and rotate home/home games through the rest of the teams. This also could have been done in-conference, with the UA-UT, UGA-AU, MU-Ark played every year as part of 6-1-1 schedule and the rest going to a 6-0-2 schedule.

I am not in favor of a 9 game schedule because you automatically have the schedule weighted for or against you because of game location.

Its basically back to the same format it was for the first decade with only one opponent rotating back when you had two permanents, Arkansas had Tenner and Carolina then.

Home field advantage is overrated.

How sensible it is to play just 8 conference games(6-1-1). Here we are starting a new network and the subscibers will want to see many SEC matchups. Bad business decision on their part. But, the real kiss of death was when Saban said he was for it.

Yep. Every other coach but one, came out against it. At least common sense prevailed and the permanent opponents remain. TSIO,

It WAS a Big 12 problem. Fortunately, our Big 12 AD is now gone. Now we've got an AD who shits on basketball instead of football.

I'm not reading all 8 pages, but A&M has ASU, UCLA, & UO schedule from '15-'19. Its only '14 we don't have a "major" team scheduled.

This hurts UF and USC lately more than most of the other schools and we aren't bitching. I'd trade OOC with UG any day. We should just schedule Duke or instead of FSU.

It is what it is, but I don't know why the league can't let the 4 crybabies have their tea parties and let the other 10 rotate. It's like we're not even in the same conference.

I mean its not like you guys were not going to play FSU, or Clemson for USCe, so it really should have no effect on you guys

It kind of does. We are stuck with FSU. UG is stuck with GT. Who would you rather be stuck with when trying to make the playoff. Also, for those without permanent OOC rivals they are free to schedule Purdue or Minnesota.

In a way of words. It's all due to 4 SEC & 4 ACC schools are in-state rivals. Similar to TN/Vandy & Aub./Ala.. But, as luck would have it, all 4 rivalries are in the East.

The ACC desperately wants more of their teams to play SEC opponents. I see the ACC and SEC offices arranging these games, including even some of the West Division teams.

The ACC doesn't want to go to a 9 game conference schedule. They are counting the 5 games against Notre Dame and the 4 against the SEC towards their 9 major games. That leaves 5 teams that need to schedule SEC teams. The SEC office will make it happen for them.

as you were prior to the initiative no? What is stopping you guys from just dropping them now and scheduling duke? You don't have to play a certain team, you just have to play a team

lol thats not happening, UF-FSU is just something you don't take away.

EDIT: Even though we are basically at a disadvantage by the time that game rolls around due to the rigors of our SEC schedule and they're weak ACC schedule.
