Had Richt been coaching when the SEC East was trash he'd have made some playoff appearances. Plus, Richt likely would've won it all that year he had Gurley and we beat them in the SEC championship because that team would've made a playoff.

Kirby has had and has better QBs now but he can't manage a QB that is beyond a game manager. Stetson is no better than Jacob Coker was for us. A good college QB with glaring limitations.

And we did it with injuries, which proves even more about how great Kirby is. Imagine how good uga can be with a great qb. Scary thought for a young shaft.

Had Richt been coaching in a playoff era he'd have gotten to the champ game several times and probably broken the streak earlier.

Maybe, maybe not. No matter what, Kirby is already well above Richt.

That too. The big one was 2002, 13-1 with a shocking loss to UF/Zook.

Guaranteed CFP spot, probably would have taken it. They were easily better than Ohio State.

Maybe, but maybe not better than Miami and USC, so no “probably” about it.

I still think he's Richt 2.0 - amazing recruiter, just ok GameDay.

Richt wasn’t an amazing recruiter.

Kirby is a good coach but elite he is not. It took an injury depleted Bama team for him to win. Kirby would be no better in the SEC West than Orgeron at LSU. Kirby still has no clue when it comes to the QB position. This championship covers up a lot of deficiencies especially for a championship starved and overrated program at UGA.

I will acknowledge that this is the minority view from what I've seen from Bama fans....but dude, this is a bad take. Kirby is 46 years old and is a 2nd & 26 from being a 2 time national champ coach. He just beat Saban in a "do or die" rematch. Ed O will never coach again and left LSU in shambles.

And keep blaming injuries. The saltiness tastes so sweet from this perch!

He could snag some elite talent. However, there would be gaping holes in other positions.

He definitely pulled in great classes, particularly before SEC teams did so by default.

12/15 top 10 classes, 6 top 5.

What you have to be a UGA homer to know about those classes is the fact that CMR couldn't recruit where it mattered the most- on the O and D line. Particularly the O line.

Top 10 classes are achievable at UGA with average recruiting and stability.

Kirby has kicked up the recruiting several gears.
