I want to go back to 12 teams and kick Texas, A&M, Missouri, and Oklahoma out. But nobody cares what I want. It’s all about money.

Maybe the wisest post all year...

Not sure what you're basing that on. Why would it be less?

I mean UGA still played like 5 top ten teams last year despite the 8 game conference schedule.

I doubt they can that for legal reasons

How is the Big12 more stable? The Big Ten poached Nebraska. A&M, Mizzou, Texas, and Oklahoma all left for the SEC.
It’s stable because it’s composed of teams that nobody wants

Georgia Tech will undoubtedly be in the Big 12 once the expansion dust has settled.

So you think the BIG will ignore the soon to be 5th largest TV market in the country in the 3rd-4th best recruiting state?

Honestly Clemson in and USC to the big 12 seems more likely.

You mean the 5th largest TV market that is dominated by the Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, and about a dozen other teams more so than Georgia Tech? Just because Georgia Tech is located in Atlanta it doesn’t mean that acquiring them will give you the Atlanta TV market. The Big Ten learned that lesson the hard way with Rutgers and Maryland. There are at least 10 teams more desirable to the SEC and Big than Tech. You greatly overvalue Georgia Tech’s importance.

So you have no frickng idea what your talking about regarding tv markets and conference carriage fees I see…

Bro, GT cant sell out its crackerjack 50k stadium but you think the Big 10 will benefit from adding GT? I know I sure as hell won’t pay for the Big Ten network and I live in Atlanta.

I don't think Nebraska is, so I think if the Big smells more money it will not be an issue.
I agree the AAU status may not mean as much to the Big 10 (or anyone building a football conference) as it used to... but Nebraska was an AAU school back when they made the move from the Big 12 - they lost that designation a few years later.

Yahtzee!

So many on this board cling to the notion of new markets being the key. That’s the 2010’s way of thinking - new markets and new cable boxes is old news.
People are cutting the chord on cable… It’s all about football brands and viewership. Notre dame is number 1 on the table and then after that it’s FSU and Clemson. Look at this graph of them 2 compared to the rest of the ACC:
