It Is So Decided That South Carolina Is The Worst Team in 2024-25 Men's Basketball

South Carolina has won the Race To The Bottom and soon will be able to say Finally The Season Is Over
Their record of 2-15 is 2 games more than Missouri's goose egg from last year, so there's that. One would have to assume that if they were in conference that was not so stacked they would have a much more reasonable record. As it stands they have only the two wins. Here is your crown SCar
May you only have to wear it for the one season.
A special shout out to two teams who lost to South Carolina this year.
Texas. What a sad and disappointing showing so far, highlighted by giving SCar their first SEC win of the season. Only a deep SEC tournament run will save you. May you finally hire a coach that wins at your school and does not get fired by you only to win somewhere else.
Arkansas. A 7-10 record in this conference ain't all that bad but you sure as shite wouldn't be in the FINAL FOUR IN if you hadn't of dropped this one. You are running out of chances to get off the bubble.
And now let us all reflect on SCar's misery and pray to the lord above that this same tragedy does not befall us. For it is only ever a blue blood coaching job opening up or a key player's season ending injury away from any of us falling from grace and finding ourselves at the bottom.

They at least still have some fight in them.
LSU on the other hand just laid down last night. It was hard to watch.

McMahon has benched two freshmen who at least had showed some promise.
V. Miller scored 17 points against Tennessee two games ago, only played 7 minutes the following game, and then did not play at all last night.
When the coach gives up, hard to blame the team for doing so.

Barnes wasn’t winning anymore and Shaka never won. Neither of them have accomplished more than they did at Texas.

McMahon was such a solid hire out of Murray State
But he could end up being your Anthony Grant. All that promise non of that follow through. Last year's 9-9 in conference record I thought showed a return to form but here we are.
(I feel obligated to once again say Anthony Grant is an amazing human being, his basketball though is like watching paint dry)

Is it possible Victoria told McMan he was transferring and got sent to the gulag?

Tennessee is a 1 seed
Marquette is a 6 seed
I mean Ole Miss is an 8
that last one is unfair because Chris Beard's disastrous personal life tied Texas's hands but still
Texas is on the bubble! But they do seem cursed to see former coaches make the tournament and be ranked ahead of them.

I only cared that we didn't go 0-fer. After the Texas win, whatever else happened really did not matter.
Also, go frick yourself.
Also, go frick yourself.

We lost to Auburn by 3.
We lost to Vanderbilt by 3.
We lost to Florida by 1.
We lost to Mississippi State in OT by 5.
We lost to Ole Miss by 4.
We lost to Texas A&M by 4.

That would have only worked if we also went 0-19. You all keep that crown.

That they've been as competitive as they have been despite being clearly undermanned is a testament to Paris, the coach.
Paris, the roster builder, is a different story. He's got a lot of work to do for next year. But, if he hits some portal targets and some of the younger guys take additional steps (Conyers, Frederiko, Ugusuk, Butler), he could be right back in the thick if things. He's Dennis Gates from last year.
I like Paris, quite a bit. But he's got a new boss now, and who knows how long his leash is.

Nah, the crown in my gif is the "worst team in the league" crown. I haven't made a gif for the "0-18" crown yet.

I thought for sure South Carolina was a better team than LSU; that was until LSU handled them surprisingly easily in the PMAC two weeks ago.
I still think SC is better equipped than LSU to win a couple of games in the SEC tourney. That may come into play for NIT tourney selection

Yer not jes' woofin'. Simply brutal.
Good first halfs have been our redeeming feature all during the conference season, but we were down 23-50 at the break and the game was much worse than the score indicated

My tigers gave it a great effort to win this...

Honestly, the fact that South Carolina is going to finish with the least wins in the conference may be the best argument for how this is the best and deepest conference of all time.
South Carolina is a very average to slightly below average (but not terrible) basketball team. They are #78 in Torvik, currently. Here is where that would have placed them in past SECs.
2024 - #10 out of 14
2023 - #10 out of 14
2022 - #11 out of 14
2021 - #11 out of 14
2020 - #10 out of 14
2019 - #12 out of 14
Here is where they would be in other leagues this season
Big Ten - #16 out of 19
ACC - #8 out of 18
Big East - #7 out of 11
B12 - #14 out of 16
American - #3 out of 13
MWC - #6 out of 11
WCC - #5 out of 11
