I lived next to the Tennessee River for 29 years in Decatur AL and 5 years before that in Florence, AL .It’s part of the lifeblood of North Alabama. For recreation, I prefer deep, clear lakes like Smith and Martin without the barge traffic and industries dumping crap into them, but the Tennessee is a mighty economic engine.

Georgia has been fighting Tennessee to get access to the Tennessee river. I think Georgia knows which river is better.

The Tennessee River is impounded at Gilbertsville, Ky to form beautiful Kentucky Lake. So no. Not overrated. We are blessed with lots of beautiful rivers in the south.
